Kotal joins Shinnok in the amulet, theory

posted03/02/2015 09:21 AM (UTC)byCages_ShadesSo in the last Trailer, we saw Raiden suck up shinnok in to the amulet.
Now this story tells the Rise and fall of Kotal, well i think we saw a glimpse of his fall(and not talking about when rain badassily dropkicked him off the building.
We see Mileena say to Kotal, "You took my throne, Now you wish to steal my means of reclaiming it!"
when she does that it looks awfully close to what Raiden is seen doing.(rewatch the clip to full see the effect.)
Does Kotal get sucked up into the Amulet with Shinnok?
The Trailer is out of order, so we dont really know when there rooftop fight was in comparison, and plus since she has a mask on, when she talks it could actually be from a different seen.

Yeah I could see that happening.
It's actually the reverse of my theory, I thought that Mileena will release Shinnok by accident while using the Amulet but your theory seems very possible as well.

Because he's shrinking as he's being pulled into the amulet.
This is a pretty good theory, but why not just kill him? Shinnok seems like he can't really be killed, but Kotal seems very mortal. It would be funny tho if death has become so meaningless in the MK universe that they have to replace the very concept of it with a rinky dink amulet to "kill" off characters.
So here's the real question, is the amulet a "genie in a bottle" situation, or a "Zod in the Phantom Zone" situation? Meaning, does it simply send the enemy to the NetherRealm, or trap the enemy like a pokemon?

My guess is trap them in like a pokeball,
maybe kotal and shinnok come out allies.
also i think when the Red mist sprouts out of the shaolin temple, is when they are released possibly?

Whoever was talking in the beginning was talking about an amulet that Raiden is remembering trapping Shinnok in. It's why Raiden says "if this talisman is what I suspect it to be..". So Mileena has a talisman that possibly unbeknownst to her has Shinnok in it, is trying to trap Kotal in it. I doubt she traps him, someone helps out obviously. I bet Reiko will have something major to do with the amulet which leads to Reiko and Shinnok working together.

Yeah I could see something of the sort happening, maybe Mileena or somebody manages to suck him up in there, or tries to and it backfires, releasing Shinnok?
Also yes, Kotal is very mortal, in the recent issue of the comic he was brought to his knees by a single handgun bullet to the chest

That's where I'm putting my money. You don't suck an evil Elder God into an amulet and show grave concern about it 20 years later unless assing around with it will let the god out.

i think just holding the amulet gives u great power though, and i doubt Mileena would want to release shinnok on purpose. I do think shinnok will be released though at some point in mkx, just not at that moment in the streets.

I'm sure Mileena will try to do that but D'Vorah will step in and save his husbando, then Mileena escapes and Kotal follow her to the roof.

The roof is before the scene on the ground..

There's no way to know which comes first.
It shows rain dropkick kotal off the building before it shows kotal kick mileena off(and rains dropkick was after that)
The trailer isn't in order

I think it's more likely that she'll try and absorb him (Kotal) into the Amulet but he'll somehow avoid it or counter it. It's very possible that Mileena will accidentally release Shinnok afterwards.
...B there ain't no way the Emperor is going down in his first game

Quoted from an IGN interview with Ed Boon himself:
"A lot of the new characters are those that came into power after MK9. Kotal Khan is one of them. He was one of the rulers of Outworld during that 25 year period, and the story mode basically follows his rise and fall. D'vorrah works with him, but there's twists there. I won't give away the story, but a lot of these characters come in and out of power over the course of the story."
So ya he does go down

Yeah, he'll be dethroned as Emperor just like Mileena was but he won't die/be imprisoned in my opinion. Even though death means nothing in MK :( ...you don't create an awesome character like Kotal and kill him off in his first game, at least I hope not.

ya i don't think he'll die, and if he does get inprisoned i think he gets released before the games over. i see kotal being one of the few new guys to carry over to mk11
