If they somehow add separate Shaolin Monks kinda adventure gameplay mode to replace Story Mode and tell the story through that mode, this might become my favorite MK game to date (if the story is solid,of course). Weren't there news last year where NRS were hiring programmers with experience in adventure games or something? A man can hope I guess...

Would you like this mode to return to MKX?

For me this was the best mode ever, I had lots of fun playing on Mortal Kombat Deception and tbh i miss those times.

If it's not that ugly I would welcome it back.

But I fear it won't return in favor of the MK9 system.

Only heroes.
Only 4 battles with each character.
Bland Storyline because of the system.

So yeah I rather see the Conquest mode back!

I think they should go one of 2 routes in terms of the Story Mode we're accustomed to.

1. No character chapters, just switch off characters based off what's happening at the moment in the story.

or

2. Character chapters, but not linear. Meaning you can choose a character and as you progress, you reveal how he/she is involved in the story. And with each story revealed, you can piece it all together, and there could possibly be a final ending unlocked for beating everyone's story mode.

I like this idea a lot. Fits very well for a fighting game. People seem to forget how much it costs to get something like Konquest. It's not a realistic target for a fighting game.
Story mode in MK9 was a good start and they can iron out the kinks with MKX. Linear character chapters was one of the things that didn't work for the story. And yes, only playing the good guys maybe wasn't that great either. Didn't like it very much you hadn't played with everybody in the Story mode. But it was nice to see the story in motion and not in mere text and pictures.
