This seriously has me psyched. The Choose Your Destiny towers have finally returned and they look GODLIKE. Everything from the Asian-esque architecture and the bleak Outworld background to the Warrior Shrine-esque statues of the characters along the tower, the whole thing looks ominous and epic as fuck. I'm a happy HiddenCharacter. :)

Upon closer inspection though, it looks like there's some solid meat and substance to this mode aside from the great aesthetics. At the top of the screen we see options for the following Towers:

Novice, Warrior, Champion, Test Your Luck, Test Your Might, Endless, and Survivor.

All of these options will provide hours and hours of fun, but the one that has me the most excited is Endless. AN ENDLESS FUCKING TOWER?! That will be so fun just to jump into and fight through the roster for hours or minutes, whatever you have to spare. Genius.

I'm so hyped for this shit. I've said for a long time now that NRS will surprise people with this game and exceed expectations. Even pushing the boundaries of what a "Fighting Game" can be. They have to at this point. WB wants its biggest properties to make them look good, and games like Shadow of Mordor and the Arkham series have done exactly that. NRS has to keep up with their peers, and MKX looks to be doing that in spades.

Anyway, this mode looks awesome, and bodes well for what else this game has to offer. How do you guys feel about the Klassic Towers mode? Which option has you the most pumped? Do you think there will be things like Hidden Battles or anything like that?

What would you like to see in MKX's Ladder Modes in general? Discuss! :)

I'll try to link a snapshot, but I suck at posting media on MKO so bear with me, please. If it works, Click To Enlarge!

Now now, don't jump the gun. There's no guarantee that that's what the arcade ladder will look like

Yeah, that's what I'm discussing here. Ladder Mode SEEMS to be this Klassic Towers mode. Speculation, but the evidence seems to support it. No?

Everything about this game has been really taken to the next generation. Ed was not kidding about the whole "X" thing. Fatalities, fighters, backgrounds, and the whole atmosphere has been taken into a more serious and breathtaking level. It's incredible. I have bee mentioning this alot, but I feel that now is the time to bring back classic fatalities, perhaps as a bonus feature. Also, i have been finding all these videos that chronicle the developments of all of the previous games. MKX is a whole new game on it's own. They should have offered an "ultimate MKX edition", (like GOD of War 3 did) and include a full movie documentary of the making of the game and how they came up with the big idea, and include a recording of their "fatality meetings"

Other than that, the klassic towers mode looks insane, and I also wonder if they took the whole "hidden characters" easter eggs to the next level too.
What I would request, however, is the inclusion of classic fatalities again, like MK1's Subzero's spine rip and Scorpion's toasty, and MK2's shang tsung sould steal. I want these fatalities to be given the next generation treatment. Also, I want them to include videos as unlockables..in this case, they could include the behind the scenes as bonus videos that you unlock. And I know they mentioned that this whole game is more serious, but it would be nice if they included a little comedy in their unlockables...anybody remember "cooking with scorpion"...hilarious video

anyways, that's my take

Wait a minute, these are arcade ladders? So the end boss is right there? And God knows how many characters? Is that Tanya second from the top?

No confirmation yet, but just looking at the info presented in that screen grab shows a lot of things that point to it being the new Ladder Mode, plus the title of "Klassic Towers." The "Novice" and other choices with different numbers of opponents plus counts for Continues being listed and stuff make it pretty clear, to me, that this is in fact, Ladder Mode.

I'm sure the boss(es) aren't shown though. They wouldn't want to spill that yet. haha

Damn. I was wondering who the hell the ninja at the top was, I was thinking Noob as end boss.

It seems to me a direct replacement for the Battles mode in IGAU

exactly, they made the trailer to show the new modes. They obviously left out many things (end boss, for instance) to avoid spoilers...

This is not the arcade mode. It's part of the Challenge towers.

There are Klassic Towers and Living Towers. I think there is another type of Tower but I'm not sure, I can't remember.

I agree with eveything the OP said. They look absolutely beautiful and I'm so glad they are back. They haven't been done justice since MK1-4.

Now I just want the announcer to say, once you pick a ladder, "You Will Never Win!"

I'd die of nostalgia.

Ok but I'm 100% sure I'm right grin

You can clearly see the Bronze, Silver and Gold Challenges on the left because you know, it's a challenge tower. Those particular challenges are pretty easy because as you can also see, it's the "Novice" tower that is selected.

The living towers also have the challenges, just with the bonus "Bomb Brigade".

Pretty compelling evidence IMO.

It's entirely possible that you're right. However there are a few differences between the Klassic and Living Towers. The biggest differences is that the towers themselves have completely different designs. It looks like the Living Towers are online only (naturally) but the Klassic Towers aren't dependant on your connection. It will track your stats for leaderboards/factions etc., but it isn't online-only.

What it actually looks like is that Klassic and Living Towers are mirrors of eachother, one for online play, and one for offline. Novice and Quick are offline and online versions of the same faster game mode.

The point is, to me, It looks like at a Main Menu, you will select a Towers or Choose Your Destiny mode, which will take you to either Klassic or Living Towers depending if you want to play online of offline. The Klassic Towers still serve the same function as Arcade Ladder though, even if it's going by a new name. To have a Ladder mode that worked like in MK9 in addition to this mode would be redundant, and frankly just inferior.

Like I said, it's still speculation at this point, but right now this is how it seems to me.

The living tower looks better aesthetic wise, but I hope the Klassic Towers can rotate ala MK4 if you want to fight a different set of fighters. I really miss that from MK4, but I'm still happy the towers are back at all. They look really great.

I thought this was part of that Faction crap, since you can see the objectives near the bottom. This can't be the arcade ladder. Where's the boss?

I'm sure it isn't the arcade ladder, but it will most likely resemble the Klassic Towers which is why people, including my self, are excited.
