We know it's Baraka because we already saw him in the story trailer alongside a bunch of generic tarkatans. Also, Baraka always has more arm spike things around his blades than the generic guys. 2/10, made me reply.

I never caught Baraka in the story trailer, which is why I asked.

There's a scene at The Kove with a small Tarkatan people assumed was Baraka wearing his Deception attire. After this picture was released people realized it was the same attire as "Baraka" from the trailer.

There's no proof that it's Baraka yet. Only speculation... but it would be dumb to get a random Tarkatan in an achievement image, unless Baraka never appears in the game. Until further reveals I'm thinking NPC Baraka.

Hey, there's this interesting concept in the Mortal Kombat X game called "Variations". Each character has three of them! These "Variations" gives a character specific special move properties that only THAT Variation can do!
And don't worry about not knowing what Variation your opponent is using, because characters have a slight clothing change in their appearance to let you know!

Yeah shadaloo. That first image looks like a generic tarkatan but that's baraka lol. I don't think the acheivement pic is the mkx makeover treatment because it looks like he has a dog nose and shit all in his face. He looks like the flesh pit child of mileena and kintaro. Edit: wow that pic looks a lot better than the one I saw. I like it.

It's different from all the other Tarkatan in that image though so it's probably Baraka. Still the fact that the cove is the only place we've seen him across two pictures is suspicious.

That aside, the one in the achievement picture just straight-up looks scrawnier than the one in the Story trailer, who has the build of the Baraka we all know and love.

But you know what else? This guy here in the achievement shot just looks generic, like a toadying underling. His posture just seems all wrong, nowhere near as aggressive as Baraka usually comes off as, the cheek spikes are out of left field (only reason I could see Baraka having them would be a sign of Tarkatan age, which would be interesting), and the ropes just don't seem like an accessory that Baraka, chief of the fucking Tarkatans and arguably the only one of them with any real cunning, would wear. I see a guy wearing those on the docs and I'm thinking he's a manual labourer, not somebody of any kind of military rank.

But whatever. People can believe what they want to.

No disrespect, but I'm fairly certain both of the Tarkatans in those two images are wearing the exact same thing. The "thick armbands" you refer to are just more ropes.

Out of curiosity, how are you sure that the Tarkatan from the trailer is Baraka? Was that confirmed somewhere? Could they not both be random Tarkatans?

The difference between the two seems extremely negligible, regardless of who it is.

I'm more inclined to believe it's Baraka because of the sole reason in the achievement pictures they either show off MK characters, environments or items dealing with mini-games. they show no other NPC's other than Blanche and the Krypt beast and that's because those two have achievements named after them.

Maybe if we'd seen random Shirai-Ryu goon or Cyborg LK unit #734 in the pictures as well then I'd believe it could be a nameless Tarkatan. Just seems more like a blatant "Oh, here's an easter egg for ya!" than anything, especially considering we've already seen in the trailer the outfits for the Tarkatan goons, and they're all wearing the exact same thing both on the Kove AND in the background behind Mileena, the same way all of Kotal Kahn's army goons are wearing the exact same thing in every scene we see them in. I doubt Tarkatan goons would have two different outfits. It goes against everything we've seen thus far.

To the first - understandable but I really don't think so as the brown space over the biceps just looks completely flat to me; the one on his right arm looks like it might be studded.

To the second, 99% sure (I think most folks are in agreement on that one). The build's right, and he's standing apart near the boat while the grunts do the work, watching over to make sure nothing goes wrong. That guy's in a position of power over the other goons.

Baraka will not be playable. That's not Baraka either. It's just a random tarkatan slapped on there because............???

Also that Cassie Alternate and Shinnok Alternate will not be in the game. And she won't have that Selfie fatality. Everything you've seen on the achievements list are all blatant lies.

If you're going to do one do the rest.

EDIT: Alright Shadoloo I take issue with this I've seen the trailer in super slow 1080P Theater Mode vision I've squinted at the picture and here's my conclusion: I can't find a single Tarkatan mook that's enough of a fashionista to wear ROPES on his outfit. You have some wearing the same armor but no ropes and no cheekspikes. But you'll be happy to know some Tarkatans have different clothing than initially seen (MK9 Tarkatans close to) so that's a point for you I guess? As for his build a lot can happen in a timeskip (see: Kung Lao) or alternatively they just made him more like his scrawny MK2 self as development of the game and him went further on...C'mon dude that's gotta be Baraka. But If this is a random Tarkatan well then make this Fashion-trendsetting motherfucker DLC
