I think the special forces characters are bland, aside from the newer ones.
I just don't understand how a game that has "passing the torch" as a concept, but still feels the need to include both sides of the equation.
There are so many characters that could have easily fit into these story arcs - such as Ashrah and Sareena in the netherealm war, Li Mei in the outworld civil war, Havik getting a boner for the strife among the faction/how bad Raiden fucked up last game, etc.
But we have been getting the same watered down stories with the earthrealm characters since MK1.
I don't hate any character, I am just salty - and probably will be until I get my hands on the game and have a chance to play with everyone - 'cause game play can make up for a boring design/concept/story in a fighting game.

This is the one subject I hope people keep repeating and posting about just so NRS can realize that people are not happy about the redundancy of the Special Forces. They DID overdo it. With all the roster choices they could have made, they decided - fuck diversity, lets go with these overrated characters like Sonya instead. I've always seen Mortal Kombat as the story with sorcerers, gods, conquerers, deities and such. It's a shame to see they decided to put focus on military propaganda/heroism clishes with yet another one of my favorite video game series.

Most of the original cast were humans from Earthrealm, i'd understand that argument if they started adding humans after the first few games, but that's not the case, so it's YoUR problem if you made a picture in your mind where everyone had to be weird creatures from other realms.

Nobody from the NRS team is going to come here and go ''Holy shit guys! These nerds are really angry at the roster and want us to bring back 3D era characters! We really dropped the ball.....''
I've said this a million times but apparently it needs to be said again: Boon wiped his ass with your money.

Relax, before you pop a vain. I am not talking about this forum in particular but in general. I'm certain NRS is taking notes of fan feedback all over. If you think NRS isn't aware of the fact that people are complaining about this matter, you are sleeping.

I'm certain from all of these comments if there are characters whose gameplay are kind of similar. As a unique character with unique moveset The Queen Sindel obviously deserves to be in MKX no matter what you say !

I hate joining the "attack" club on a thread, but come on, guys, cab we attempt to maintain some organization and lack of redundancy, for all our sake?

Cassie's Hollywood variation has ONE move from Johnny (the nut cracker), the other one (being able to shoot her pistols in the air in adition to the regular grounded shot) if anything could be mimicking her daddy's action films but not his fighting style.
She also has the shadow kick (or the cartwheel, don't remember which one) as part of a combo chain instead of a regular move, so it isn't like her playstyle resembles Johnny's by getting his maybe most iconic but certainly least useful move.
I hope this time around the nut cracker at least is an "usable" move, last game's was a stupid move that didn't even stun the opponent (he could always block after it) and even if it was clearly a low hit, maybe medium, it was just a regular high hit IIRC, which meant you couldn't even use to mixmatch and surprise your target.
I don't think getting that move equals to playing like him when Cage players rarely used it (more a mock move than anything) and she doesn't have the green balls or proper shadow moves.

The Nut cracker was one of the most, maybe the most usefull move of Cage's arsenal, the point of leaving the oponent in a standig position is to do a Reset or a 50/50 Mix up or even Cheap Damage mix ups. Just watch somo MK tournaments and you will realize how to play with the nut cracker.
And fot the topic, Agreed or Disagreed, There is Already a topic to talk About all this.
