Well truth be told I think Jataaka can do just fine on her own, but pairing her with Kia could also work. Neither have much of an established moveset so neither's gameplay would risk being neutered like Noob's in MKD.

For one of their variants, they should do pretty much everything together, like a special move where one attacks opponents from the front, followed by the other attacking from behind. Players should be allowed to switch between the two at will, though it shouldn't change their gameplay at all, just regular attacks and maybe taunts. The other two variants should be the gals fighting on their own.

To conclude, they should be together during most of their intros, even if only one of them speaks.

This.

That said, I can't wait to see what they (and Sareena) look like in the game. I would be TRULY surprised if they don't appear in Story mode in some capacity considering Quan Chi (and to a lesser extent the NetherRealm) seems to be playing a major part of it this time.

Well, *I* like your idea. I've always wanted to see at least one of them be playable in a game. I've actually had my own idea for a long time that Kia could be brought in as the 'black' female ninja. By black I mean the color of her clothing, like how Kitana is the 'blue' female ninja, Jade is the 'green', Tanya 'yellow' etc.

They don't need to rely on each other if they were to be developed. What you're suggesting is sacrificing each own's identity to be a codependent partnership (for the sake of a another topic) when that's not necessary given what sareena has showcased. Ferra/torr is a different dynamic due to the completely different natures and scales of each character.

All this is besides the fact that the two will likely never be chosen over Sareena.

I used to want them, but I've come around to the realization that they're really just NPCs. Let them go, there's no point.

If we can't even get Sareena as a main game recurring character, forget it.

Yes I do, heh.

We don't need multiple duo characters in this game. One is plenty, two is too much.

What would we even call these two if they were to be a duo? Jataaka/Kia? That would sound silly.

Not to mention, despite Armageddon makes it difficult to use this as an argument, we didn't fight all three of these assassins at once in Mythologies. They have their own abilities, they don't need to team up to take on one person.

I'd rather have the assassins be their own character rather than teaming them up to make one character. They wouldn't seem fun to play as either if they were teamed up as one character.

When did I ever say that this pairing should be permanent? Sounds like you missed what I said earlier in my topic, that I think Jataaka can work on her own, but that pairing her with Kia can work, too.

@Shadaloo
Blaze, a background character, not only ended up playable, but was the final boss of MKA. Ermac was introduced to the series because of a glitch, of all things. So as far as I'm concerned, both Jataaka and Kia could finally become playable characters, whether on their own or paired together. But I do agree that their chances of returning are almost zero if Sareena doesn't come back, as well.

So one of your issues is what would the announcer call them? Holy...

How about the announcer just refer to the gal you were playing as? Or they could be refered as "Quan Chi's assassins". Really shouldn't be too hard to figure out.

Multiple duos: Would two blonde military gals be too much? Or two or three telekinetics (Ermac, Kenshi, and Takeda)? Or all three Shokan? Or two Cryomancers? As long as the two (or more) duos are different enough from one another, I don't see the problem.

Again, I'm okay with them being separate, hell I'd prefer Jataaka to be on her own, I just think pairing them can work.

So, what absolutely amazing movesets you think either gals have that would be neutered if they were paired together, like Noob's in MKD?

Yes, I would be bothered if they were just called by one of the assassins instead of two. Why? Because I'm going to be THAT user and bitch like I'm sure others would. Because hell, people even complained that Noob Saibot's name was just Noob on his health bar. So yeah, I'm going to point out what people would complain about.

I don't have a problem with multiples, since I clearly don't have a problem with Frost and Sub-Zero, Cassie and Sonya, yadda yadda. But I don't feel like we need to have two duos.

You think people would complain about something that insignificant, so you complain. Okay...

So, why is it worse to have two duos than two cryomancers, or other kinds of multiples?

So you want them to work sort of like Juli & Juni from Street Fighter Alpha 3? Do they have separate health bars or is it shared?

I guess I don't really have a problem with it. I just don't want to see those 2 come back.

Shared energy bar, like Noob-Smoke and Ferra-Torr.

Why don't you want them to return? What would be wrong with them?

Just out of curiousity, which of these two do people prefer: Jataaka, or Kia?

I can't use a complaint that I KNOW is going to come out? People complain about insignificant things all the time, I can't whip out a complaint I know that will be used if people see these two together?

Kay, whatever. I'm trying to give you a legit answer with this, there's no need to act smug towards it.

It's not "worse" to have two duos, I just don't feel that it's necessary to have them. You even have it in your first post that one variation should just be them together and the other two have them be separate. Why have them duo anyways when they can easily work as an individual character?

Blaze was something special though; a dude on fire people speculated about since MKII, and Ermac had rumors flying around about him for years before UMK3 made him a reality. It's the popularity and buzz factor in addition to Sareena's very existence that keeps them down; I'd argue that a vast amount of players introduced with MK2011 might not even know who they are. You had people on this very site who didn't know who Tasia was when she showed up in the comic; the demand and awareness just ain't there.

I see your reasoning, though. I once argued in favor of them in the same way.

New fans and casuals may not know who Jataaka and Kia are, but appearing in the same game as the likes of Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kitana, etc could very well change that.

Look at Captain Falcon from the F-Zero series. Before appearing in Super Smash Bros, he was pretty much a nobody. A few years later, the F-Zero series was revived. Coincidence?

Don't give up on them becoming playable. Maybe it'll take ten more years (hopefully not), but it can still happen.

I never liked duos. But.... that would be a good way to save roster slots, wouldn't it. So why not.

If they could just start pairing everybody else.... Jacqui with Jax, Mileena with Reptile, Ron Tan Cho with Bo Rai Cho, Kung Jin with Erron Black, etc, etc (I know my examples are bad) etc. lol

Then maybe there will be room for a Tanya slot somewhere LOL.... And hopefully she remains solo and epik.
