I think Jaqui will be a mix of Jax and Sektor judging from what we've seen so far. Cassie has elements of Johnny and Sonya, Kung Jin may have elements of Liu Kang and Nightwolf, Kitana has a Jade variation... My point is that I think a lot of the missing characters will have elements present in returning and new characters, but not too much that the new characters can't feel fresh.

Purely speculation, but it makes sense to me from a gameplay perspective.

You think Sonya, Jax, Johnny, and Liu Kang won't be playable? Even after all of the evidence? What are you smokin'?

I personally think Cassie is more like Stryker than either of her parents. The fact that the shadow kick isn't a special move makes me think they saved it for Johnny. Also, she doesn't have any of Sonya's moves except for the tackle.

And the only game-play we saw out of Jacqui/Kung Jin was part of their X-Ray. We saw Takeda smack Torr with his whip, but that's it from him. We did see that Jacqui had a flame-thrower device on her wrist, so you could be right about Sektor. Cassie can also call in missiles, so...

My point is: Jax, Sonya, Johnny, and Liu Kang have as much chance of being playable as anyone. Jax not so much, but still.

Yeah this games really lookin like it'll be the one to not use any of the cyborgs. Aside from Cyrax in the challenge tower. Which is a bummer.

I was wondering who the whip guy was too so thanks OP. Takeda seems to be all over the fuckin place. Kenshi's son trained by Scorpion using Movado's weaponry? I think his whip variation will be his homage to his teacher Scorpion, while he'll have another Kenshi telekinesis variation or core moveset we haven't seen yet. To have him be Kenshi's son and not give him telekinesis would be super weird. Like what was the point of him being Kenshi's son? Overall I think Kenshi's stock as a playable character is plummeting.

I'm only speculating, it could go either way imo. I just don't personally see the need for Sonya, Johnny etc. but that doesn't mean I don't think they will be there.

That's semi-ridiculous for several reasons and I'll tell you why;

1) The motion capture picture Ed posted clearly shows someone not looking at his opponent like he's blind with his finger to his temple; Kenshi's trademark stance. Takeda, thanks to the trailer, clearly has visual sight and merely incorporates gimmicks from his two connections; swordplay and spear/whip play. Just because he may have one final variation dealing with TK doesn't count Kenshi out which leads me to point two....

2) We know multiple parents are involved in the game. The voice actor for Jax just confirmed his involvement on twitter earlier today. Add that to the Jax looking character on the Living Tower and the fact both he and his daughter now seemingly have arm enhancements that up their strength.

3) Finally, he can still be Kenshi's son and not have a lot of TK moves or not have TK at all. That's like saying whats the point of Kitana being Sindel's daughter if she can't scream like a banshee or fly?

Add all those to the fact the roster is quickly nearing completion and we still have Ed's word that we'll see multiple characters from the later games, who do we really think those will be; Quan, Shinnok and Kenshi. I'd bet my life on it.

I don't see flamethrowers on Jaquie's arms..what the fuck..they're robotic forearms. How can you not see that? She has robotic fingers in plain sight in part of the trailer.

Not only that, his full name just sounds stupid.

I would much rather see Kenshi in the game than Rain any day. Heck, he seemed like a lock not even two months ago.
