If Raiden is in the Next Game, what part do you want him to play?

Defender of Earthrealm and Mortals or Evil Thunder God? I think Midway and the MK team could take this 'Dark Raiden' storyline far. I'd prefer him to be neutral- he is still defender of Earthrealm, but he kills any mortals that do not fight for it.

OR he could be completley different. He could form an alliance with Shao Kahn, or Shang Tsung for instance..... Although I highly doubt it.

It could be, that when he released his 'God Like Esscence' in MK:D, he absorbed the souls of Quan Chi & Shang Tsung, making him evil. He could find a way to overcome it, and the story could be about that. In the opening movie, it could be Kung Lao talking, and at the end he could say, "If he does not overcome this, Earthrealm and all it's Mortals will surely be doomed!"

Post your Ideas!

Evil thunder god will be better because Good raiden is an old idea. The Evil thunder god will be an interesting choice. I dont think Raiden will return to his good form since he blowed up himself.

I like the Dark Raiden concept and you're right, they can go quite far with it. His alignment should be Neutral as you said because of the reasons you mentioned. I think Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Fujin would be the ones most connected to his storyline. When it comes to Shao Kahn, well...I doubt that since Shao Kahn is a type of person who would put Earthrealm in harm's way..

I wrote a plotline for MK7 a while ago where the Elder Gods turned against all of the realms that they created due to the sins committed by Shujinko, Shao Khan etc. I thought that it would be cool if Rayden sided with the Elder Gods against the mortals that he had once sworn to protect. I like the idea of the characters evolving over time. I'd like to see Scorpion become the champion of the Elder Gods, getting his soul restored in the process and becoming Hanzo again. I'd also like to see Sub-Zero, who has been prematurely aged over the last few games, get killed by Noob. A new Sub-Zero (his son perhaps?) could take the fight to avenge Sub-Zero's death.

Those are just examples, but I think that taking characters in different directions helps evolve the characters, the overall story and the series as a whole. So a short answer would be, yeah, I'd like to see Dark Rayden, and see where he goes over the next few games. I think that they could do some really cool things with an evil thunder god.

I don't think Raiden would side with the Elder Gods since they ticked him off times before by not assisting him. The Elder Gods aren't really concerned about what goes in the realms. They are just concerned that the realms exist.

Scorpion becoming Hanzo again would be interesting to see. Sub-Zero hasn't prematurely aged over the past few games. It's simply that when he wielded the powers of the Dragon Medallion, some years off of his life was taken and he's more in his 50s now. It seems to me like his aging will slow down, especially with the strange way he's looking younger in MKD.

I don't particularly like the idea of Noob Saibot killing his younger brother and then having a son of the younger Sub-Zero emerge and avenge his father's death. The revenge thing isn't really needed in that. Sub-Zero has a lot going for him in his storyline and for him to get killed off would be a huge mistake.

Yeah, i completely agree that Raiden should be the new boss or sub boss of the game. I think that he would make an awesome boss because, after all he is the GOD OF THUNDER.
I think ive said this before in another thread, but since MK:D was compared to MK2 alot because of how dark it was and it's storyline, i think that MK7 should be comparable to MK3!
I know MK3 isnt the most favoured game by some people, but think about how excited you were when you first heard about it, or played it. It was a good game with a good storyline too. So get raiden to be the subboss/boss of the game taking some control of earth realm or somthing, and have some of the game set in earth realm in the city and stuff. Imagine the possibilities of area's too, like on a highway bridge or in the middle of a street - death trap being like the subway level, also getting knocked off a bridge fallin onto a parked car or something. Also if they include more thinks that influece the fighting such as street lamps and garbage and rubble and what not.

Raiden is a mighty character and i think he should be able to take controll of earth realm alone - or even with some help from shinnok or something??

I think maybe a torn Raiden, between two ideals would make for an interesting character and keep people on both sides of the camp happy.

However, if I had to choose one, or one to be dominant, I'd say Dark Raiden. He's been allied with the earthrealm warriors for so long, it'd be great to see them have to battle him; killing a god is hard enough, but a God who helped to mentor you and protected your people, only a short time ago?
It would also give Scorpion and Sub-Zero, who've never been associated with Raiden as much as the others, a shot at being the hero.

I wouldn't want to see Raiden as a boss or sub-boss yet, But I would like the next game to establish that he is a great threat.
