It could go every direction. Personally I would like to see the first sub zero. Not only because he was a cold hearted assassin wich I found more appealing, but also because little is known about this warrior. Tough if the cyborgs are in the game, I don't know how if it still would be the original sub zero.

If MK8 is a reboot, then I hope Scorpion and Subzero are roommates in downtown San Francisco. Scorpion would be a laid back unemployed slob, while Subzero would be an uptight obsessive compulsive music aficionado. Oh, the antics!
