I think the X-ray system was one of the coolest features NRS came up with recently, but in a conversation about MKX with a coworker the other day he mentioned that it doesn't really make sense that when a fighter gets their leg broken or something else that would completely take someone out of the fight such as smashed organs they are still able to fight.

Now we all know that that's just part of MK, and no matter how much blood is spilled or whatever the fight will continue until someone wins. But I had an idea that I think could make the X-ray feature more fun and not just diminish a huge chunk of the health bar. What if the X-ray feature what set up to where let's say a fighter gets their leg or arm broken then they have to continue fighting with one good arm or dragging their broken leg with them slowing them down? I think it would be a cool idea, and the X-ray moves should still diminish some health but in place of diminishing so much as it does now, it could instead have that wounded effect on the fighter's ability to fight.

As for other X-rays such as broken spines, ruptured organs, or even Goro's famous cringing X-ray from MK9, I'm not really sure how those would play out or even work for the idea above. Any other ideas or opinions? I'd love to see what you others think of this. smile

See this idea makes sense. MK doesn't. It's just the way it is. In MK4 Sub-Zero freakin bends your leg backwards. OUCH

You want to go the realistic route and try to finish the fight after Kano rips through your stomach and chest with knife and then breaks your spinal cord? Good luck with that. The fight is pretty much over, you're selected fighter is pretty much dead lol.

Yea. I know it doesn't fit with MK but I thought it was fun to think about. Imagining your online opponent trying to limp to you as you deal that fatal blow. Lol. Eh, just scrap the idea I suppose.

Yeah, no.

That would completely throw off the balance of the game, may as well just get rid of x-ray specials all together.

It's a good thought, OP, but no.

If you accept X-rays for what they are, however (which is yummy eye-candy), you'll worry far less about them making sense. ;)

The only thing that should change is to only allow one xray attack per fight. After u use it, the meter never goes past 2 bars, this way ppl cant over use enhanced moves as well

^now this idea I agree with. Sub-Zero should NOT be able to rip your organs out TWICE.

I remember when X-Ray's where explained in the early development of the Mortal Kombat (2011), it was said that they were going to have long term affects on the opponent. Which didn't happen. Unless you want to count puke staying on Noob Saibot's leg.

I don't know if I like the idea myself, but what could happen is whatever body part(s) was damaged during the X-Ray, would make it weak in battle throughout that round.

X-Ray damaging the:
Head/Neck.
All attacks to that afterwards result in more damage being dealt.

Upperbody Injuries: Mid attacks hurt more.

Damaged Arms and/or Legs:
Attacks from the opponent's Arm or Legs do less damage.
