Hi, I'm new here and I'm a MK fan since I was 7 and now I'm 21. It's really nice to see that there's a place where I can share my thoughts and opinions with some real fans like me. (by the way english isn't my first language)

What I'd like to say here is that after Mk4, all the others MK games didnt really interrest me. I don't know why, maybe it's because I'm older now. All the new fighting styles dont really impress me, but It's only my personal opinion.

Recently on my xbox 360 and Ps3, I downloaded MK2 and UMk3 which are the MK games I played the most when I was younger. Sure These games brought me a lot of memories but I also found them to be ''better'' than the new ones. I mean, I played online and the players I was playing against were really experienced and creative the way they were mixing special ,combos and basics moves. The fighting was really basic that's why they had to create ''combos'', mostly in MK-II where there's no real combos. I've seen very impressive things there and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. There was a little feeling of freedom because the games were so basics. This is one of the aspect the new MK games cannot really give us, the possibility to mix things and I know what I'm talking.

As you can tell, I would really like to see this aspect of the game come back just like the new Street Fighter 4 (Never been a big SF fan). The same fighting style they had on SNES with few changes but nothing really different. A new MK with the 2D old fighting style (HP,LP,RN,BL,HK,LK) but in 3D just like MK4 with new characters and even some from MKDA, MKA. I mean seeing these new characters fighting in a 2D environment would make it a better fighting game. I wanted less animated actions and more freedom in moves. Back then I remember , you had to have timing when you were doing combos, they were not animated. Something like MK:Trilogy which I think is the best MK ever but in modeled in 3D and with some new features. I also dislke the fact that now all the characters are build like Conan (Anorld Schart.z. you know). In the old MK games some were skinny (Baraka grin ) others a little bigger (Scorpion, reptile) and the biggest were Kano smile , Jax and others with strenght. They were all the same but with some small variations.

Anyway this things is getting too long so I will finish like this. Olders MK were also harder to play that's why they're exciting to play online now any one can become good in a short time. You can tell that I'm really nostalgic but I'd like to know what most of y'all think about this.

Thanks

Welcome to MKO!

Here's more than enough to get a good idea of what I, and many others think to start you off. A few of these links are also in my signature space beneath my picture.

1. Story
2. Gameplay
3. Future
4. Mkast Fan Assessment
5. Aculeus
6. JAX007
7. ThePredator151 (shameless plug for good measure, lol)

I don't expect you to actually read everything, but skimming should gain you a good sense of what folks think. There's great stuff all over this site, ya just gotta know where to look. One more thing, alot of these threads are old so, try not to bump them unless the last post in them is less than 3 months old.

Have fun!

Welcome to MKO.

Yes, I agree with you. The mk games that I prefer are the old ones. Did you play MK vs DC however? The gameplay in that game is more reminiscent of the 2D mk's and is the best of the 3d mk's in my opinion.

But yeah, mk9 should look at MK1-mk3 for inspiration. I think the HP, LP, HK, LK system is a bit outdated though....but I like the more 2d approach.
