I always took it that Edenians were a mixture of tons of different fictional races some of which resembled ours.

Also Earthrealm in MK could have culturally diffused with Edenia and Outworld in the past. I know they finally made that a thing with Kotal Kahn's backstory. It would explain a hell of a lot, like the similar languages, some similar customs/designs to Asian traditions (I know that's mainly because the series is a riff on Kung Fu movies but I mean story wise).

I generally prefer dark skinned women but Jacqi's x-ray and the fact that she's Jax's daughter are what are influencing me to like her as a character, not her appearance. She's not even real.

Jacqi's race really doesn't have that much to do with it. She's related to less kombatants than Cassie and Takeda/Kung Jin are talked about a bit more because they were name dropped on casting sheets, one's in a comic, and they got a bit more showcased in the trailer.

My point was that fans have heavily debated which "Earth-based" race Jade is supposed to represent visually, and the results of the arguements are inconclusive.

As far as the canon is concerned... they're Edenian. Thus endeth any discussion of their race.

Whether that equates to "Black" "White" "Middle-Eastern" or "Mixed-Race" to our eyes as fans, is entirely subjective, is my point. I KNOW damn well, we don't know anything about their parents. Duh. That... wasn't really what I was getting at. Of course we don't know if their parents had two different skintones, but my point was THEIR skintones, are deliberately ambiguous.

Jacqui is the first Mortal Kombat female we can definitively call Black and/or African-American. And I like that about her. That was my point. Way to completely miss it.

He's not gonna suddenly start going out of his way to make sure people know there are mixed race characters when most of the people from Earthrealm are probably pretty mixed anyway like a lot of people in real life.
