Personally, I'd rather go for the dead and deep-fried Kano.

He'd look like goro and jax combined. Half dragon, half man with metal...parts.?.
No. Get rid of Kano already.

It could be the story boost Kano needs, but quite honestly, I think Kano's had enough game time. He's been nothing else other than a crony who's only out to save his skin and a general pain in the ass for Sonya/the Special Forces.
So in a nutshell, he should just be rid of.

Dragon-kano seems kinda cool at first, but there 2 huge roadblocks.
For anybody who plays D&D, Kano and a black dragon seems like a no brainer adaptation, but there are two problem; Reptile and Onaga. Essentially, if you make a big strong dragon-kano, he looks to much like Onaga. If you play a stealthy, secretive dragon-kano, it looks to much like Reptile. The only dragonish role left for this "new" Kano is a supreme intellectual type. Dragons are known for shapeshifting, so maybe it's possible for Kano to conceal his powers (assuming mavado is dead and buried) while making stratigic alliances with the likes of Shang Tsung and Reiko (an alliance of former Shao Khan servants if you get my meaning) planning for his rise as supreme baddy by MK9 or 10.
Again, I think Midway would benefit from D&D lore on this one; Black dragons are known for cunning and brutality, and Kano fits this mold perfectly (which may or may not be coincidence). A dragon-kano, to be cool, needs to be able to manipulate the other bad guys without being seen by the good guys. It's basic Black Dragon behaviour guys.
I say this, not because I think it's a good idea, but becuase I don't believe in retcons, and don't believe in posts that say nothing but "this is stupide."

About Me
out of ninjas, cyborg thugs, evil ninja robots, martial artists, martial artists with sharp hats, princesses, bodyguards with more than 4 limbs, undead movie stars, native american shamans, evil emporrers, gods and secret service agents, you say Stryker didn't fit in MK3?

Dragon Kano?
that sounds....... odd.
personally, I'm a huge Kano fan, but if you bring him back in MK8, you kill his tradition for showing up every other game.
but if you did bring him back, I say have his metal eye ripped off and crazy with the need to kick the person's ass who did that to him. it'd be different for once and might just give him the jump-start his story needs.

Precisely what I did to him in my fanfic, MK: The Seat of Power. Aggravated experimentation that makes Kano a brutal monster and shatters his eye, leaving skull and a vacant eye. And he wears tatters of his DA primary. It could be the story boost Kano needs
