How NRS going to connect the storyline with the new variation system in MK X
Hi Guys, with the new varaitions sytem introduces in MK X, most of us happy to learnt more about it but some are disappointed with the new system.
The reason are varries for example why we won't be allowed to perform the whole movelists as one characters?
Apart from that questions above, there are still many questions that can appear regarding the new variation sytems, such as
1. Which character's variations are we going to use in the story mode? because each character has 3 different variations
2.With Boon has already hinted to us that the storyline will be focus on the after-event of mortal kombat 9(5-25 years), so are we going to see multiple variations of each character in the story mode? (for example : chapter 1 scorpion 5 years after MK X we will play as ninjutsu scorpion, then in chapter 11 we will play as scoripion again but instead of play as ninjutsu scorpion we will play as inferno scorpion)
3. How the storyline goings to explain to us why in this timeline scorpion that we are going to play as is the ninjutsu version and why in another timeline we are going to play the inferno version?
Please share your thoughts guys...

The variation system just limited one characters movesets into specific condition, I understand NRS going to develop this system for more exciting gameplaywise, but for the canon and linear storyline aspect, it is not logic that one character can only perform specific moveset in certain condition, for example : it doesn't make sense that scorpion only can peform ninjutsu fighting style in certain condition or particular storyline, therefore I would say that it is more logic if the characters have no limitation to peform a specific movesets in the story mode

Right...because NOBODY learns and develops new skills over time. That's preposterous.

Fuckin people on MKO, little snooty attitude for no reason. Even though you answered like a dickhead, I agree with you. The 25 year span of the game is a great reason for showing how characters COULD develop new skills over time. I think through story mode when you play as a character you will be forced to use all of their variations. That said, I don't think NRS will put reasons for the new abilities and styles in the actual story line and therefore no variation will be depicted as the final and best form of the character. Like there will be no cut scene where Radien is like "Shit Sub Zero have you ever tried just fuckin throwing your clone at these motherfuckers instead of waiting for them to touch it?"

Yeah I think the variation will depend on the time period. Like 5 years after MK9, someone will have Variation A, 25 years later they'll have Variation C. Something like that.
Variations probably even started as an idea when making the storyline.
For example, Sub-Zero will probably feature his Grandmaster variation when he controls de Lin Kuei and his Cryomancer variation when he finds about his origins like he did in MKDA-MKD.

I think the Mortal Kombat (2011) Story Mode had you fight four times.
Sooooooooo
Fight 1: Variation 1
Fight 2: Variation 2
Fight 3: Variation 3
Fight 4: Choose Your Destiny
