26 on the main roster + 4 DLC seems reasonable, if it were my dream scenario though.

It would be MKA roster with each chracter getiing individual special treatment for all 3 variations grin ofcourse the game wouldn't come out for another 3-5 years XD

I want a max of 20 characters. Maybe 15. Then 5 DLC.

I like smaller, more balanced rosters.

Boon said somewhere in this video there are 25 characters... Saying there would be 75 variations.

Is this correct?

Maybe 30 characters plus 6 DLC. 36 would be a good enough number. But considering all the variations we have- I'd be fine with 25 characters with maybe 5 DLC, making it 30.

32 + 4 Bosses + 8 DLCs.

And it is quite realistic, since the game is not primarily aimed at competitive players. Soon the number of characters is something that brings casual gamers.

I see that as a rough estimate rather than the actual number. But I have a gut feeling that it's going to closer to 25 than 30 on disk... which would be a little disappointing, but hopefully I'm wrong.

As for how many I want? As many as possible to be honest, assuming they can have every character polished and balanced well. If they do what they did with Kenshi, Rain, Skarlet, and maybe Freddy (never got him) and not give them any voice acting or personality, DLC might fail. I want as much DLC as Injustice, or more. And I want all the DLC characters to be fully-fledged characters that seem just like the on-disk ones.

Well it was also confirmed that MKX's (I assume pre-DLC) roster would have as many characters as MK9 if not more so 28-32 is most likely the ballpark. I'd be cool with 5 DLC, 1 guest & 4 returning characters.

I don't want more than 30 in the main roster. I trust NRS to create well-designed, high-quality characters, but more than 30 and I'd expect any studio to start scrambling for ideas and cutting corners.

DLC characters, they can make as many as they want. If I don't like them, I won't buy them.

The characters must be polished, Unique, Balanced, Complete and Full of Features. Having it as best (since not hold much release).

Ed said (in an interview with Polygon) that the base cast should be, at least, the same number as the last game (which was 27~28:)
Boon says Mortal Kombat X will have a roster at least as big as the last Mortal Kombat — which shipped with nearly 30 fighters — and that "obviously" downloadable characters will follow.

As NetherRealm does anywhere from 4 to 6 characters via DLC, I'd be content with a grand total of 32-34. Not really dead-set on any particular number, though.

I think 30 fighters on-disc is a good number, and it's only 2 more than MK9.

But I have to say that I want as many as possible. Think about this- NRS could start working on Injustice2 after MKX. Or even another game. Which would put us YEARS away from MK11. I was ok with my fav fighters skipping a game back in the day, becuz it seemed like MK5, MKD, and MKA came out rapid-fire. That simply isn't going to be the case anymore :/

I honestly can't see them ship MKX with less characters than MK9. I also think that they'll have more hidden characters this time around.

So my guess is 24 to start, 6 hidden / unlockable and 6 more as DLC.

I'd like to see 30 to start, 5 hidden / unlockable and 5 DLC, but I can't see them getting to 40.

30 characters would be my guess, on the disc..
The DLC I would ONLY get MK characters! not this guest characters bullshit, that in my opinion, take away the MK experience.

This. I hope there is another row of 12 that is made up of unlockable characters, putting it at 36. Plus maybe like 4-6 DLC? So around 40 total.

With everything we currently know, honestly id prefer no more than 20 total with no dlc to max of 4 dlc chars.

Why do i want less? Because the less chars the more balanced the game is likely to be which is most important. Sure i want my favs to be in the game but id rather none of my favs be in if it meant better balance.

I would be comfortable with 25 on disc + 5 dlc for a total of 30.
