Do you guys/girls believe that MKX on next gen consoles and PC can look as good as this unreal 3 demo they showed back in 2011? Give me your thoughts and opinions https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSXyztq_0uM

That trailer is completely CGI done outside of Unreal. Anyway, Akrham Knight is likely using the same version of Unreal 3 and it's looking really good.

Arkham Knight is the best comparison to use. Especially considering that NRS and Rocksteady have been known to help each other out in the past.
However, it also is REALLY dependent on NRS's own design and art team. The engine does NOT make the game. It's just a toolbox. I think they have improved and got some good new talent, judging from Injustice. They have all the resources in the world, as opposed to their Midway days. I think we will be surprised by the look of MKX.

I was nervous at first about it looking dated but based on Arkham Knight, the potential is huge for it to look amazing on next gen. 360 and PS3 will probably look about as good as Gears of War

Man this is a huge bummer to me. Ya I'm pumped for a new MK but I was hoping for A next gen MK. Even freaking Arkham has moved to next gen... if Batman doing it... well...

Yup. I have no doubt that MKX will look wayyyyy nicer, and cleaner than MK9. There's no reason to think it'll look the same. By the time MKX comes out, it'll be 4 years when MK9 came out. Plus them working hard on the next-gen capabilities are going to really shine. I'm SO happy they didn't decide to release the game this year, that would have been a dead sign of bad things. Not too too bad, but more time to work on the game with a next-gen release makes me happy and confident.

Boon just tweeted
"Using our highly self-customized version of Unreal 3. 60fps 1080p!"
1080p? 60fps? Damn, dawg. Sounds good to me.

I can't wait to see some actual gameplay using their new engine but am a bit nervous at the same time. Since they announced it as cross-gen I've had doubts it will look as good as I'm hoping. I know graphics doesn't make the game but it certainly helps! My main concern is having everything new they do with gameplay mechanics and fatalities having to work on previous gen consoles too so I'm confused as to how it can be a next gen game apart from the visual difference. Arkham Knight guys have said they have been able to put in the batmobile because of next gen, surely Netherealm haven't had the same freedom because of the need to be able to port it to previous gen too? Am I the only one a bit confused/worried? I'm sure the game will be fun anyway! :P

Arkham Knight is an open world game with dozens of NPCs on screen at any given time. A game like that really needs next gen hardware more than MK. MK can do more with less because theres just not as much going on. I dont think theres cause to worry. Wait and see whats up at E3. What is it, 2 days now? :)
Also Ive read that Batmobile thing before and frankly I think its misleading. I think he was talking mistly about being able to blast thru the city at 100mph without slowdown or loading screens. Thats what next-generation can really help with. And more polys, of course.

Yeah that makes sense. MKX can still look incredible even on old hardware. Injustice looked very good IMO. I still play MK9 from time to time, and love the way it looks. If Batman Arkham Knight looks as good as it does, then I'm sure MKX will look on par.

Injustice and MK9 looked dated as fuck to me now when I go back and look. Hoping they ditch the cartoony look and go for realism, which judging from that teaser, they seem to have done.

60fps has been the standard for fighting games for more than a decade. Totally separate from all the 720p/1080p jazz.

That is a very good point, especially about the batmobile! I didn't think of it like that lol I think I needed someone to help clear it up for me so thanks! ;) I'm sure I will love what I see once E3 comes! Think the wait doesn't help lol

It is a standard but not one thats always met. 60fps is a lowest-common-denominator in my book. Its essential to a fighting game. 1080p at that speed is great to hear. But we really wont know what it all looks like till Monday. But with NRS current resources, Im comfortably optimistic.
