So since the MK front has been virtually DEAD and this page is about as lifeless as a maggot infested corpse I decided to start digging around and looking into other video games on the horizon for 2008.

In my travels, I discovered something I dunno if you all have heard about but its a new engine being used in a few up and coming games that could potentially be MIND BLOWING.

One of the engines is the EUPHORIA engine. It's a new natural movement physics engine being used in games like: Star Wars Force Unleashed, GTA4, New indiana Jones game and others. Its INCREDIBLY realistic and insane

Another is (can't remember exact name) something along the lines of DMM. Its a structure simulator where wood breaks like real wood and metal bends like real metal and so on.

My point is....would it not be fuckin INCREDIBLE if MK8 utilized these new technologies? Is it possible it was what Boon was meaning with their fancy new thing?

Check out these videos to see the technology.

Yeah, I just saw a video about those two engines, and a third one called Havok I believe... the video was about them being implemented into Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. I would love for MK8 to include these engines, but are they processable with the Unreal engine?

Yeah I thought about throwing havok in there but it's not really new. Bungie has used it since Halo 2.

And as for them being compatible with Unreal, I would IMAGINE so. I mean, I saw an interview with one of the developers of the Force Unleashed and he said it was hard to get Havok, DMM, and Euphoria to talk to each other and work but they made it happen. 3 seperate engines in one game. I am sure unreal could work with it.

These new engines coming out are all impressive. I am hoping the MK Team can manage to utilise the Unrela engine to its fullest. Given Midways new policy on their products, the MK Team may receive the time they need to produce something wondrous. We can only hope though. The things they could do to make the game more realistic in look and feel are evident within those videos. Time will tell whether or not they are up to the task.

Wow. I mean, imagine dedicating this kind of power to punch and kick possibilities....

Also, if we're seeing this now, the developers had to have had access to it months, or even as far back as a year ago...

No excuses MkTeam. lol

the ice breaking could be useful for subzero's special moves and fatalities

The back of Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks box says that it used the Havok Engine. I don't think these engines are particularly necessary for MK. Mostly because I was fine with the particle effects of the recent MKs. But hell, if it means less time on painstaking animation and effects and more time on fixing the gameplay and the series, I'm all for it.
