RT @RalfGone @noobde ed boon is kratos coming on Mortal Kombat X EB: Not likely. He was awesome in MK9 but we dont wanna repeat.
— Ed Boon (@noobde) June 5, 2014Ed Boon: We don't wanna repeat.
And then he puts in ANOTHER trailer of Scorpion and Sub-Zero where Scorpion wins. Speaking of being repetative, Scorpion's story is the same old shit in every game. The character does not develop at all!
We don't wanna repeat my ass. XD
Glad to hear Kratos won't return though. ^^

Good post. I too don't like how Ed Boon says one thing but does something different, like on one of his tweets there was Unreal Engine 3 or 4, and Ed Boon said 4 all the way, making people think that's what MK will use, and then when people assume that, he later says it's using a modified Unreal Engine 3.

I actually wish people wouldn't even mention guests. Now there's even more of a chance to have a non-MK character in the game. It shouldn't even be brought up, it seems like people want guests..

I can't see how one topic on a random form will have any impact. Its almost a given at least one guest character will pop in. The best selling DLC of NRS's previous two games where both guest characters. Boon and his crew also seem to greatly enjoy creating guest fighters.
Unless NRS can be convinced to stop doing something they have fun with just to cater to a loud-but-small minority and also will make their investors less money there's not a chance in the world MKX will be guest free.

As much as I'd love the Predator to be the guest character of MKX (if we MUST have one), Max is right; there is very little chance this will happen. Though, I have to express that I am very much against guest characters in fighting games. Sales figures aside, they don't belong in a universe they don't exist in and the time spent on creating them should be spent on creating other characters within that franchise

This. And yeah, since we'll more than likely be getting a guest character, we could do a lot worse than the Predator.
Self-destruct nuke fatality ftw!

I'd love for predator to be the guest character for MKX, but it won't happen simply because WB doesn't own the rights to the latest movies.
This topic made me do a little research on the heavily rumored Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th, and I offer you some evidence:
WB owns the rights to Friday the 13th, and part 2 of 1 is in the works
WB also made the original sequel: Original film 2009
My money is on Jason to be the guest character of MKX.
Edit: and this is what he would look like:

Cyrax is far from the Predator look. Cyber Sub kinda looks more like the Predator.
So, all in all, we could have Cyrax as well as the guest character Predator. However, no thanks...we don't need it.

Mortal Kombat already has a lot of Predator influence in it. Sub-Zero's head rip fatality is a direct homage to the first movie. The look of Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke from MK3 were all based on the look of the Predator. Even Cyrax' self detonation fatality was based on the Predator. I personally love all the references to the character, but I'd rather leave it at that.

Except Predator is not a Warner Bros. "product".
How was this even a thought?!
If there's going to be a special guest, it will either be Sony console exclusive and/or along the lines of the company "product". The Mad Max character theory is more plausible than this.

Interesting. Warner had given up the rights to board a Chris Nolan Film and it was announced earlier this year that Paramount had taken back the rights on the franchise. Warner could still distribute the film? It went back to Paramount.

Do I want to see Predator? No. Of course not. It doesn't matter, though. There's going to be a guest character in this game. It doesn't really matter if it's predator, Jason, or Ash (actually, Ash would be the winner of those three).
If anyone, I'd want it to be Rorschach. I have friends who are committed to playing the game if he shows up.

MK does not need a horror movie character this time around. Bad enough Freddy was in MK9 as a guest character.
Infact, MK does not need any guest characters. Keep it MK only!!

Pretty sure Warner doesn't own any rights to Friday the 13th at all anymore. They all went back to Paramount last I checked.

It was distributed domestically by New Line, but produced by Platinum Dunes (Bay's company). Internationally it was Paramount. So you still have a tangle of rights when it comes to actually putting the character in a WB game. (Not to say it can't happen).
A Nightmare on Elm Street was produced by New Line and distributed by Warner Brothers. So the chain was shorter and more direct.
Deals can always be done. We don't know how far in advance plans for a guest character have been. Shorter odds for characters WB are looking to cross-promote in-house, though.
@Tazer_Gunshot
Doesn't "need" a guest character?
Obviously.
"Will" have a guest character?
You bet your ass...

I'd rather have no guest. But Koyasha, Al Rashid or Tarya would be awesome. As long as there's one char and he/she's DLC.
