Each Gamestop is different a Midnight Launch is done according to how many pre-orders a specific store recieves

Yup, I'm friends with the employees at my local GameStop, I think if a game gets more than like..70? pre-orders then they will host a midnight release, my local GameStop 200+ pre-orders which is great.

Also I'll get it at 10pm since the midnight release is based on Eastern Time..

My gamestop is having a midnight launch and are also setting up a little mini tournament for players as well.

My GameStop is going all out. They're having a cookout, a Kombat Trivia Challenge and a tournament with prizes. The manager is a huge fighting game fan, so he goes all out for any fighting game release.

It depends on the shop, my local shop probably wont have one since I live in the middle of f****** nowhere and I doubt a lot of people would go...then again the comics consistently sell out at the closest comic book store so maybe they will idk

Just call your local Gamestop. Midnight releases are at the discretion of individual store managers. They either will or they won't. They typically get the word from corporate sent out to all franchises whether or not an upcoming title will be a "major release". If it's considered high profile enough, managers are given the option to go ahead with midnight release. It could also depend on the amount of pre-orders they have.

I called 2 gamestops. One of them is not doing midnight release because they have less than 20 pre-orders.

The second one (closer to my home) that I called IS doing midnight release, since they have over 30 preorders, and they're actually doing it at 11pm rather than midnight, so we'll have it even before the digital pre-order players in my time zone and further out west.

So MKX is considered by gamestop to be "high profile", which means there's a very good chance your local gamestop will be doing midnight release. You just need to pick up the phone and call them to find out, since it's up to their discretion.

Also, I made this thread cause the last 2 midnight launches I attended, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare & Watch_Dogs, they announced the stores participating in the midnight launches on Gamestop's site. Which they haven't done for MKX, hence the post.

Oh goodness, did you read my entire post. I was just curious, and said I was calling and I appreciate the help but I thought it was silly when I said I was going to call haha. Don't get so butthurt cause I said I was originally going to call. I didn't know it was situational to stores, I just assumed they'd have a list, like in the past, on their site. I went to my local Gamestop today to pick up my Mortal Kombat X Fightpad that I pre-ordered and I asked the employees if they are having one. They said yes they will and depending on how many people show up for it they will have a tournament.
