posted03/16/2006 08:55 PM (UTC)byangelXWho thinks they should do the MK4/Gold style FMV ending when you win the game? The whole two pictures and a narration thing is old fashioned, cheap and sorta worthless. I feel that the FMV vids make you feel like you've earned something.
Or instead of individual charcter endings, what about if by completing Arcade mode with each charcter you get an FMV vid and when you put them all together you get an MK movie that runs for about 40 mins or so! Just a suggestion...

FMVs are the last major piece of the puzzle, I think.
Regardless of gameplay, characters, and extras and so on, it's just... y'know, do I want to buy Tekken and get a cinematic experience for finishing the game, or do I want to buy Mortal Kombat, and get one hundred design sketches, and photos of programmers?
Yeah...

Instead of having a five minutes FMV intro I'd rather have a 2'30'' intro and a 2'30'' true ending, not a "what if".
I like a lot the previously posted idea of unlocking this ending video after finishing the game with all characters.

Chrome, the "slideshow" endings do have a certain nostalgia about them...

I knew and didn't forget.
I don't have any idea how that makes any kind of point.
I'm sure Namco didn't have an animation department dedicated to FMVs when they were doing Pacman, and yet, there they are, miraculously doing them in Tekken.
Making a puzzle out of the endings is an interesting concept, but I think I'd rather something that featured each character. I think it's a big ask to have endings suitably insert each character into a larger X length piece.

Jesus, Namco is at least ten times larger than Midway.
Pacman had no need for FMV§s and Namco has an own FMV department, Midway has nothing internal considering FMV animation. Having outsiders do it is well above 50.000 USD and thats a great sum for a small develop-ment team such as Midway. Even if they would want to do them, they dont have the money.

Whether or not they have FMV studios is irrelevant, imo. FMV endings are needed. It's time they stopped living in the past. Killer Instinct 2/Gold had picture and text endings for crying out loud. That's the early N64 days coming at you right there. They had FMVs in MK 4/Gold and then just stopped. Pick up the pace and make some quality stuff.
Well if for some reason they can't have FMV endings then at the very least have real-time endings. As was stated pictures and text don't cut it anymore. If they can't atleast do realtime endings....then ouch. I mean I will accept them not doing either if they are really focused on gameplay though.

Obviously. The point is moot, that's all I'm saying.
Midway could develop in house options through various means, to start producing regular video pieces, beyond what we've seen in Deadly Alliance, Deception or even Shaolin Monks.
It's a discredit to them to say they can't ever change.

They can't be that bloody poor if they just bought SCI Entertainment, which just recently bought Eidos itself.
