Well I briefly played DOA4 and they had FMVs.
MK4 had them but they were on the N64 and PSX and PC.
What are the chances we will have actual video footage or (FMV) in MK8??

Actually, when I consider how the Mortal Kombat series has developed, I would rather have the storytelling endings than FMV's, because before MK4 they did it like that, and the FMV's in MK4 were rather sucky! I'm glad they changed back...
After having said that, I would like to see FMV endings in the future MK games, IF they make them well and has the same story-effect like the storytelling endings. Like if they used the Baraka VS Mileena FMV as an ending for them, with a different outcome. That would have been nice!
So if they can make the FMV ending much better than the ones in MK4, then it would definately be worth putting into the game.
BTW, Dead or Alive is a pretty game with good graphics and smooth animation, but the gameplay and storyline are so lame. The movie is hilarious though, but still ridiculous!

FMV endings could work alot better now with next gen systems, then it did with Mk:4, all those years ago. All it takes is the effort, and boom! Character stories are more understandable, if not more enjoyable.

With the future MK games coming out on PS3 and 360, I see no reason it wouldn't be possible. Especially on PS3 Blu-Ray, they'd have plenty of room to add fmv endings.

FMV endings would be awesome. Hopefully Midway would get an in house company to do their FMVs like Namco. Then again, if the in-game graphics could actually reach the standard of Resident Evil 5, then I wouldn't mind endings with in-game cutscenes.

I think alot of people make the mistake that it's disk space that determines whether or not there are FMV endings. That really has nothing to do with it. Developers compress the hell out of video files. The real factor is $$$. FMV's are extremely expensive to produce. Whether or not Midway wants to spend the money on FMV endings is what will be the ultimate deciding factor, not the power of next-gen consoles or how much data fits on their disks.

Ehh, they weren't that bad man. They were kind of cool, the thing is the lips didn't move but we're 2 generations ahead in time they could easily come back and do the FMV endings.

It would be nice, but how often would you watch the same movie?
Is it worth the time and effort?
Written endings like in MKD are fine for me. Have a cool FMV for the intro.

Now that I think about it a little more, what I tend to skip through are the text endings, like in MK and street fighter, because I already know what they are. I see the picture and it's like ok, next.
Video endings I'll watch.
I don't really play for that though, the main reason I'll go through story mode in any fighting game, is so I can fight the boss.

They could do it like how DOA4 did it. They don't have to have a FMV ending for everyone but after beating the game with every character could be treated to a final full blown and canon FMV ending.

with all that's been fundamentally(webster will forgive me) wrong with the mk series, i'm shocked that fmv's are on the top of people's list when the text/picture endings do a much better job of story telling then fmv's.
Yeah I think it would be good, or maybe a bit of both, like a few
picture and then a FMV movie, to be honest I don't mind but
as long as the FMV are good. I will be really annoyed if they
just put in some random videos, but I don't think that will
happen.

Some do some don't. List is... Is that idea in Tekken 5 ?
YES:
Hworang, Marduk, Anna, Nina, Marshall, Lei Wulong.
NO:
Steve, JACK-5, Ganryu, Jin, Kazuya, Heihachi, King, Feng Wei, Asuka, Raven, Mokujin, Kuma/Panda, Xiaoyu, Wang, Bruce, Bryan Fury, Christie/Eddie, Roger Jr., Paul, Baek, Yoshimitsu, Julia, Lee, Devil Jin, Armor King, Lili, Dragunov, Jinpachi (Game Over)
In Tekken 5 it's mostly made up of painted images for the prologue while it introduces each character to the 'next' tournament with a narrative intro. The epilogues-- for the most part-- are made up of FMV (in addition to a few more narrated paintings for some characters) of each character's ending to the tournament.
I don't mind seeing something similar to that... I just think it would be better if they came up with their own new and original ideas for the intro(s) and conclusion(s) for altogether or each individual character.

It would be awesome if there were movie endings for each character... BUT.. it would make it better if every ending was the canon ending for each character. That would make an easier set up for the following game.

i think it would be awsome to have FMV endings i liked the endings in MK4 but with the ps3 and xbox 360 they could really go to town with them and make them really good
