Yeah he was already finished disc locked content lol I cant defend it. I got it for free for preordering so I cant say I am personally angry about it though.

It does make me wonder if they will try more and more of this kind of stuff in the future though, I just hope they don't try to put even more already finished characters behind a pay wall like SF X Tekken did. I can deal with the characters in the kombat pack because I believe they were still being worked on, but Goro I can not really defend lol

The thing is in the UK its retail-exclusive pre-order bonus which was only at game and they charge ridiculous price £44.99 which is like $69 in the U.S hence why I am so mad with it.

It's far from being like Capcom thought. Capcom had like 6 characters ready to go put behind a pay wall on purpose.

MKX had 1 character that you would get for free if you pre-ordered the game. Bad practice? Arguably, but it's not Capcom level at all.

Well, that I can't argue with. There's a big problem with money exchange rates everywhere.

I live in Canada. The game are always at a flat rate of 10$ more, no matter what the exchange rate is. Sometimes it's good because we pay less than we should but if the canadian dollar gets stronger we end up paying much more.

"Disc Locked Content" is unforgivable. I defended NRS in the beginning but when I saw that Goro was actually taking up a spot on the regular roster as disc locked content, I stopped. That spot should've gone to someone else. Goro shouldn't have even been in the game, or at the least, he should have been part of the Kombat Pack, and Rain/Tanya should've been on the roster.

Locked disk DLC does suck, but in 80% of every other MK we wouldn't even have the option to a Sub-boss like Goro. MK9 had 3 characters on disk that were just locked away unable to be used unless you hacked the game. I know they weren't balanced or anything and in MKX Goro has variations, but it's not like something was taken from us that we usually get like pools in the Sims games.

I saw it as just a bonus for people who were planning to get the game anyway. Let's be honest: Goro is not really that great in this game. I'd rather play just about anyone else. But I didn't mind the incentive to invest for a day one release.

Also, you're absolutely right. NRS bowed down to the gaming trends of today and locked away on-disc content for pre-orders. It sucks, but it happens. I don't blame NRS though -- I blame WB Games. There's a pattern of locked away stuff with most WB Games releases anymore.

Op you must not visit the mk boards on gamefaqs.com all they do is complain about that kind of stuff. I guess it sometimes depends on where you go.

A few years back I was on a Resident Evil forum where I was literally cyber bullied by every other member because I liked RE4. Went to another one where RE4 hate was damn near unheard of. Keep and mind these where long time fans of the series. So yeah, sometimes it depends on where you are.

Tbh, I agree. Would have been cool if they came up with a new subboss, maybe some Oni Shinnok had enslaved (or tricked into being a minion of his) when he escaped, like one of those flying creatures we see in the story and in his corrupted fatality.

I pre-ordered, but yeah it's utter nonsense. The greatest insult is the fact you can still see him on the roster as, basically, an advertisement.

LOL. Most pre order DLC is finished before the games' release. It has to be otherwise players would not be able to play it on release day. Just because it was on disc makes no difference other then the fact the download file is smaller when your code is verified.

In case people have forgotten, MK9 had pre order DLC and it was retailer exclusive as well which in my opinion is even worse.

I think they did go a little to far with making a character a pre order bonus though and I hope they learn from that. I think costumes was the upper limit not a character.

I guess that is the point? If it is done, shouldn't everyone have access to it? Pre-order DLC/most DLC is a cash grab scheme. "Buy the game now or you'll have to buy Goro separately later, even though he is completed."

Goro was free. They just wanted to up pre order numbers to create buzz. I like MK and want the game to do well so I have/had zero problem with Goro.

This. My actual first reaction was "Cool, I missed playing as him in MK9." I don't even own a copy of the game yet (I'm saving up to get a new PS4 first) which means I'll have to spend money on Goro, but it's still fine by me because it's an opportunity we didn't have before.

I pre-ordered too, because it's MK, and I LOVE MK. Still, even though I got Goro for free, it's kinda shitty that he claimed a spot on the starting roster that, if you hadn't pre-ordered, would remain locked. Pre-order bonus DLC is fine. However, locking away a character that is on the starting roster of characters behind a paywall is not.
