In MK:7 they need to bring new fighting techniques into the game. Players and fans of all kung fu, or action movies have been dieing to make it more realistic and fun and to really get the feel for the game. But it seems as the MK team took another route and focused more on fighting styles in themselves more than the fighting techniques inside the game. Well, I am about to show and explain some examples of some ideas to be added.

Escapes:
I understand that in MK:DA they had the basic escapes that I am gonna touch upon in this chapter. The escapes used in MK:DA were good, but not every character had them. Each character should have atleast one basic escape. And for some characters, you could even have a special escape for them, such as Sub-Zero or Mavado in MK:DA. Now these are pretty much self explanitory, but Iwill give a few ideas I have for certain special escapes.

Sub-Zero:
Just like in MK:DA he slides back using his ice freeze trail.

Scorpion:
He teleports a certain length back.
He throws his spear and pulls himself backwards.

Smoke:
Like scorpion he teleports into smoke a certain distance back.

Now these are just a few examples of many many that could be thought up. And you can think of your own and post em'if you would like.

Ok, down to the main point of this chapter. ESCAPES. I made some animations/sketeches of what the basic character escape should be.

CartWheel:

The Cartwheel is an easy move to pull off, you will normally see this or a modified cartwheel in a fightscene of a kung fu' movie. It is quick, and doesn't take the greatest martial artist to do.

Back-Handspring:

The Back-Handspring is used a lot. You normally see it used in gymnastics. This would be great for a girl, or even a flexible guy. Back-Handsprings are also good because you can continulously do them over and over without a problem if you get the proper speed. These are a little bit harder than a cartwheel, and would take a better martial artist to do these.

BackFlip:

The BackFlip is the hardest to pull off of the three. You have to be really flexible and very smooth and fast. It is used in lots of martial arts movies. This should be given to only those who have the skill to manuever like this.

Well this wraps up the basics to escapes. Please post comments, ideas, and suggestions.

Next chapter: Wall Tactics.

I made this thread covering these things a long time ago. I'll be updating it (and some other ideas) and revising it soon enough and making a repost for MK7 and other future games soon.

The carthweels were something I mentioned whilst MK:DA had backflips covered by some characters. These techniques and the others I mentioned in my thread there would be a welcome addition to MK as long as they were utilised well.

As for your wall tactics, I'll probably add some to the revised thread. Wall kicks, wall jumps (as in the my thread), wall flips (see MK1 movie - Liu vs Sub-Zero), wall running etc would also be interesting to see.

Such abilities should belong to characters who fit their usage and those who possess a certain style that would probably incorporate such abilities. Not all of these abilities should be available to each character in that respect.
I'd like to see more stuff like that.

They did the multiple flips in Marvel Nemesis and it looks awesome.

Just don't do too much copy and paste because then it just gets stale.

They need to keep these evasion moves looking as original as possible.

Maybe not every character can do them.

Like Jax, I don't see him doing any flips, but maybe a longer backwards hop, backwards jog or a roll.

Or a shove, so he moves the other character back instead of him self.

Add to that, the ability to run a little while pushing the opponent to press them up against a wall and attack from there.

The shove could even work as an air throw, if the opponent is close to a wall, you can to the air shove to slam them against it.

Kind of like King's running pile driver air throw in Tekken 5.

I think that's what that slam is called...

You have to do one of King's special throws for it to work.
Like his f, b, d, f,+1

I guess you could add spacing moves with the list of evasion moves.

The evasion moves could be used against certain types of attack for a free escape if timed correctly.

For example:

The back flips could evade slower low attacks like a sweep.

You could have a Blocking backdash, like a parry, you tap back+Block to block a HM attack and you hop back while blocking.
