I hate the direction they've gone with him and I despise the Legacy inspired costumes they had for him in the concept art stuff. They really have no idea wtf to do with these characters. HORRIBLE arcade endings, horrible story mode involvement, and in Ermac's case, absolutely worthless design. They could easily add an awesome DLC costume for him but no, expect a Brazilian beach volley ball costume for Ermac because they are currently smoking meth over in the NRS design department.

As for the two characters at hand... I'm a little disappointed with Ermac overall in MKX, but it's okay. He was pure perfection in MKD and he was great in MK2011 too, so one 'bad' (
Classic costumes are ass compared to the 3D era ones and I wish they would stop bringing back those skins, they look shitty compared to the new costumes (as if they're using some out of date technology to make those skins and they're plain anyway which makes it extra bad).

I think Ermac finally looks like how he should. He is an amalgam of souls in a vessel. Gameplaywise he is my main atm. As for reptile... his design is problematic because of the lack of mistery around it. I think his last good design was in MKSM. I never vared for the full on lizard look as it was always too birdlike. i think his mk4 look is still the best tho.

I'm not gonna lie, I really dislike both of their MKX looks. They may be my least favorite designs in the game overall.

I am by no means a 'casual' and I generally do not like Reptile..at all. Reptile has kind've always been a loser, story wise.

I'm confused..... How the bell is the popularity plummeting for either ermac or reptile? Reptile has been a top 10 fan favorite since mk2. Ermacs popularity sky rocketed with Deception and with mk9 to the point that he's gotta be some where top 15 most popular if not top 10...... I have not witnessed any thing yet suggesting either those chars are dropping in popularity. After some more months go by if there really isn't ppl playing either much then yeah maybe, but I'm pretty sure their reputations with the main fanbase will pretty much retain as is.

Other than Scorpion and Sub-Zero (of course), it seems like the ninjas are damned if they do, damned if they don't. In the trilogy days, they were highly popular but a large fanbase complained that they were lazy design-wise. In the 3D era they grown into their own characters but then some people complained they they strayed from their ninja roots and lost all sense of mystery. Come the new MK9 era and it combines the worst of both worlds: they are still very different from one another design-wise but are still interchangeable henchmen with no story impact.

For Ermac, I'd probably say its the mouth. That alone is is the reason his popularity is going down. I know that sounds crazy, but god fuck, look at it. LOOK AT IT.

Ermac's hooded MK9 alt was the best design on the character ever. I admit the mummy face isn't my favorite in MKX but it hardly detracts from the character. Ermac isn't one of my usuals...I find him too overcomplicated to use. I give a lot of credit to the people who master him. However, I'm currently practicing like crazy with him...frankly i love seeing his fucking gruesome fatalities.

On MKO, where people refuse to accept change and believe that slapping on a mask will cure all ills, yes.

Everywhere else, no.

Now Ermac... People seem to be HATING how he looks. I don't think he looks too bad. There's just something about his face that is..meh.

imagine capcom redesign ryu, ken, akuma etc. with not just a different costume, but a different personality and move set aswell. and if fans dont happen to like the complete redesigns, they are just stupid and cant accept change, loll.

Reptile looks the best he ever did. But i never cared for him either way and two of his variations are just shit. But he is damn hard to beat when computer plays him.

Ermac looks okay. I don't love his look... But i don't hate it either. Some characters are worse then that. His gameplay is okay i like master of souls and mystic. But i never get really drawn to him to actually play him alot.

I Would like to see them again. But reptile his variations need to get better.
And Ermac don't know make him more what he was. His look is okay but it is to mummy like for my taste.
