About Me

Keep dunking your Kenshi breadsticks into your Skarlet sauce, people! The main course isn't coming for a while, and you never know when it's going to be disappointing.

This is an idea for games that can take place after MK10. If you'd like my theory for MK10, view my thread: http://www.mortalkombatonline.com/content/forum/showmessage.cds?id=136627.

If you'd like a quick summary (but please give the theory consideration):
-Shinnok and Quan Chi are defeated.
-Shinnok kills the Elder Gods.
-Raiden and Fujin die.
-Fallen heroes are brought back.
-Reptile is made a hero.

--------------------------- IDEA HERE ------------------------------------

First off, MK11 should be made into a new roster game. Everyone in the game (save for Scorpion, Ermac, and maybe Sub-Zero (though he can be replaced with Frost)) will be either a character who has not been used or a brand new character. Very much a SFIII style game.

This isn't exactly my idea, but it does suit to benefit the people who want this. But then there's my REAL idea:

Considering the alternate plot lines of Mortal Kombat and it's huge amount of characters, what if the series set up an episodic sub-series on the XBLA/PSN? The episodes would have a small roster, online gameplay, connecting benefits (if you got the previous episode, you get something), and story modes for each chapter focusing on the roster.

My idea....

Chapter 1: Noob Saibot, who's been brought back, has taken the Amulet, lost after Shinnok and Quan Chi were killed, into his own possession and started havoc in the Netherrealm. Smoke, after realizing his origins, has found himself constantly being forced into the Netherrealm, attracted to the Amulet. Sub-Zero goes into the Netherrealm with Reptile and Nightwolf in hopes to save Smoke and stop Noob Saibot. Along the way, Scorpion agrees to join their battle, a mysterious young woman named Sareena follow's Sub-Zero's path, and the heroes are joined with a mystical saint named Ashrah.
Possible Roster: Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Nightwolf, Smoke, Noob, Sareena, Ashrah, Drahmin, Havik, and possibly many more.

Chapter 2: Kano has begun accepting new recruits. Amongst these include a new prodigy, Kobra, and a vile assassin, Kira. On the rise of the Black Dragon's newest crime, Sonya regroups Special Forces to take the Black Dragon down once and for all (with mixed results...). Stryker, who joined the Special Forces, notices that Kabal has gone missing. In reality, Kabal has gone to Kano, for reasons unknown. Cage, a Special Forces member when not acting, takes part in the battle as well. At the same time, news that Sektor, the current leader of the Lin Kuei, has joined forces with the Black Dragon spreads to Cyrax's ear. Cyrax joins the fight, in hopes to stop his old friend.
Possible Roster: Sonya, Jax, Cage, Stryker, Kabal, Cyrax, Kano, Jarek, Kobra, Kira, Sektor, Frost (maybe), Mavado, Hso Hao (Red Dragon intervene), and many more.

Chapter 3: Sindel and Kitana attempt to manage control of Edenia, but in this chaos, they are attacked by Outworld warriors. Queen Mileena, with her military aids Reiko and Baraka, have pierced the walls of Edenia, demanding the kingdom. Rain and Tanya are seen standing beside Mileena, assisting her, but secretly plotting their betrayal. Kung Lao comes to aid of this battle, in hopes that he can convince Liu Kang to come to his former love's need, and possible return to the heroes once more.
Possible Roster: Kitana, Mileena, Kung Lao, Liu Kang, Sindel, Jade, Mileena, Reiko, Baraka, Tanya, Rain, Sheeva, Li Mei, and possibly many more.

Chapter 4: A student of Bo Rai Cho by the name of Shujinko has been hearing strange voices. The Dragon King, as before, speaks to him, hoping for revival. Kai and Kenshi receive message from two mysterious strangers, warning them about Shujinko's possible mistake. They intervene his quest in Orderrealm, where the revival of Onaga, takes place.
Possible Roster: Kai, Kenshi, Bo Rai Cho, Shujinko, Hotaro, Dairou, Darrius, Stranger #1 (Raiden moveset), Stranger #2 (Fujin moveset), and many more.

I know I'm missing several characters, but that's why I left the possibility for more.

Features of this game would be:
-Story mode focusing on the characters of that chapter.
-Each episode has the characters from the PREVIOUS EPISODE playable. If you bought the previous episode, all previous characters will be unlocked and a discount price will be given for the game following your last purchase.
-If previous game was not purchase, game costs standard price, but all characters are available, but must be unlocked through the Krypt. Expensive Krypt cost.
-Each chapter would have a special mode per chapter: Tag Team, Test Your Luck, etc.
-Full voice acted, but animated cutscenes. Somewhat lower standard graphics, due to PSN/XBLA format.

This would allow the next game to focus on major, new characters, but the players who miss their old favorites will still have their chance to shine and enjoy their cast in full cutscenes. Also, if the next game played differently (3D or different combat styles), these chapters would much more play like MK9 or MK10.

What do you think?

I've got to say, I like it. I've always been partial to the idea that the MK-verse is kind of like the universe/world developed by a comics company. Yeah, the big sellers are there(the cast we all know and love)but there are a TON of other plotlines and characters that are only vaguely associated with the others. This would allow more characters and plots without needing to find a way to kill off or remove previous ones.

Now that I think of it, I'd love for the series after 10 to start following new characters and whatnot, but keep all the old ones playable and give them barely related arcade endings, but keep them out of storymode. Like in the SF games where, what, three characters typically have something to do with the main plot? and the rest are just kind of there for filler and gameplay.
