who else is tired of seeing characters like taven and shujinko try to b the new heroes of mk. Kung lao needs to stop being a chump and just man up to his situation and become the new hero of mk. Its been a long time coming and i think he deserves it. Y hasnt Midway put in role of the chosen warrior yet?

Kung Lao's story ended in Deadly Alliance after he avenged his friend Liu Kang. Now he "just" helps with defending the world. I would rather have him be a shaolin master sensei in the next game rather than he being the actual hero.

But he didn't avenge Liu. He failed and was killed.

Kung Lao can work because his whole storyline has been trying to avoid being the lead hero...unless the make his Shaolin Monks persona canon, that is. So to see him finally step up and accept the responsibility he'd been trying to avoid would be nice. Especialy after he's already failed once in trying to be the leader. Trick though is they're going to need to expain how & why he's not going to age.

Personally, I would prefer if Kung Lao retired and adopted a sensei role, similar to Jaded-Raven. But if the new "main hero" is going to be one of the current characters, I'd rather it be Kung Lao or Sub-Zero. Or maybe both.
I think the current strategy that they're doing with Shujinko and Taven isn't working. Makes them feel forced.

I like Shujinko. I think he's pretty interesting. Taven however isn't. He's served his purpose.

Like X said, Kung Lao failed and was killed. Also, I think you mean Sifu, not Sensei. wink

Anyway, I think it may be a bit late right now for Kung Lao to step up and be the main hero, but I may be wrong. If he is going to return or something, I suppose he should take on that role as Sifu or at least a Sihing.

Well genesis72, its best to keep some characters out of that championship position. Sure Kung Lao makes a good mk heroe, but most of his fans will know he's the "official underdog of mk who's not the main heroe" already. The same thing could be said about any good mk fighter by any mk:o user. But in this case, its more understandable.

deadly alliance was the perfect game for kung lao to take over in my opinion.

I'm sick of having a new hero every new game. They should stick to one for at least a number of games before moving on to the next. It's ridiculous.

Well, that's kind of what they did with MK1-MK4 with Liu Kang. I think the problem with the whole main hero thing is that with Shujinko and Taven, they didn't exactly develop them out to set them up for that lead hero role. Sure, we have their Konquest stories, but I'm talking more along the lines of a few games. If they are going to have a new main hero, they need to build him/her up into that role as opposed to just forcing it down our throats.

Right, he didn't finish it, my bad. *smacks my head down into the keyboard and breaks it* Whoops...

Sub-Zero_7th:
No not Sifu like Sub Zero, but one who trains shaolin monk students. As a sensei. Isn't that the right term for it? You know it better than I do :)

And I agree with QueenSindel(TheBitch) that its ridiculous to keep on having new heroes for each game who, besides that, is also very mediocre as hero-characters.

No, Sensei is a Japanese term. Why would a Japanese term be used for a master of Chinese martial arts? It doesn't make sense. That's why the term "Sifu", which is a Chinese term for "master", makes more sense. It depends on why specifically you mean in regards to Kung Lao's rank. Are you saying Kung Lao as a master or just as an instructor? As a master, he would be a Sifu. As an instructor, he would be a Sihing.

I didn't know Sifu was chinese... You learn new things every day :)
I see him as an instructor, someone who trains new shaolin pupils. And so it would be cool to see one of his pupils in the next game.

by now you would know that most of the materials in this game are either chinese or japanese. (King of the Hill: "So are you Chinese or Japanese?" ha ha)

But getting back,

why does it have to be only Kung Lao? Why not Sonya, Kitana, or maybe a female chracter. ever thought of that? you know, it wouldn't hurt anyone having a female person be the main hero.

but actually getting towards the point, i would not like to see kung lao to be the main hero as of his storyline which most of you people have already covered so i don't need to repeat myself. but who ever the person was who stated that Sub-Zero could also be the next hero, i would love to see something like that. even though that he already had an adventure game that came out and that "somehow" that the "next mortal kombat movie" will be based about him, like if that ever happened and this computer sucks as sarcasim.

but honestly, i would rather have someone other than kung lao be a hero for the next game. he's just too quiet and not really a loud character. with kang he's right off the bat with being a loud character. a woo woo woo woo woo wa ha!
