Dudes just think about it for a second.Ryu vs. Sub-Zero, Scorpion vs. Ken, or Sakura vs. Sindell. It would be the best fighting game ever, besides MK7.

It would be good and all but it'll never happen, companies join in games rarely enough without it being an American company and a Japanese company.

I wish that Capcom X Namco game was released in the west, that'll probably be the closest we'll get, although it was an RPG, still, lots of legit Namco and Capcom characters in one game.

I just think that would be cool seeing Sub-Zero take on Ryu.

It's 2 completely different fighting engines though..Although both games are beat 'em up's they're also very different.

But then you wouldn't be able to play as any of the SF characters in MK and the other way round, making the idea pointless, the only way you can have such a game would be to make a completely new game that use both characters with one engine.

How completely pointless, thanks... confused

I guess it would be fun, but I dont think it will happen...

Well, it has started with a card game, so, who knows?

I think it would be like Capcom vs. SNK or X-Men vs. Street Fighters. Those were some kick-ass fighting games. I think if X-Men had a chance. Then Mortal Kombat should be no problem. And yes, X-Men vs. Street Fighters was a real game .

what if you had let's say a total of around 12-15 characters between the two and there would be an option to play either with the street fighter engine or the mortal engine that would be the only way it would work and it will never happen.

If you really want to see Ryu take on Sub Zero, or whatever, you can.

Simply head out to your local Blockbuster and buy a few decks of Epic Battles. It's a collectible card game (like Magic the Gathering or Yugioh), made by Score. You select a fighter, and throw down punches, kicks, special moves, and all kinds of cool stuff. And the first wave (Round 1) of cards is Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat.

The game is (for some stupid reason) a Blockbuster exclusive, but it's still alot of fun if you can gather some friends to play.

We have no guaranteed list for Round 2, but the characters in Round 1 are:

Street Fighter: Alex, Dudley, Elena, Gill, Hugo, Ibuki, Ken, Ryu, Sean, Twelve, and a hidden character: Evil Ryu

Mortal Kombat: Ashrah, Baraka, Bo' Rai Cho, Darrius, Hotaru, Jade, Kabal, Noob Smoke, Sindel, Sub-Zero, and a hidden character: Lui Kang

Rumored for Round 2 are SFs classics like Blanka and Chun Li, while Mortal Kombat will have Scorpion and Rayden, among others.

I know it's not what you're looking for, but it's a great game if you like CCGs. And even if you've never played one, it's a good one to start with!

I don't like that idea, first Street Fighter is about traditional fighting where each fighter enters a fight knowing that they will survive to see another day.

Mortal Kombat is based on survival and death. Each character involved in Mortal Kombat fight because they do it for a cause.

The styles of the games are so different that I can't see these two games merge together to form something else.

The only way I see Mortal Kombat versus Street Fighter is on the retail shelves trying to get the fans to give them money.

I don't know how they'd cross the new MK fighting styles with SF, but I have played with the old 2d MK characters versus SF ones in Mugen and that made for some brutal match-ups. I even coded my set of MK palette-swap ninjas that played much closer to their MK2/UMK3 likenesses than the average MK characters available on-line for Mugen, which tend to be "Capcom/SNK-ized" with supers and inaccurate specials.

The MK characters tended to rule the brute force department, with their MK uppercut and stun moves. Their hits, as of MK2/MK3, do considerable more damage than modern SF characters. MK characters that can teleport and use stun moves, like Scorpion/Smoke/Ermac, also tend to be quite brutal against SF characters.

The SF characters boasted longer limbs, thanks to their hand-drawn sprites, have better normal projectiles, and could catch up to their MK characters damage advantage with their super bar moves. SF characters that pack powerful pressure games tend to be best at putting down MK characters.

So techincally if you used the old-school MK style play (MK1-4), it could be intermixed against SF characters style of play without changing either too much. Getting the 2 companies together just isn't too likely. But Capcom does like their VS. series games, so who knows....

Oh yeah, pulling Ryu's spine out with Sub-Zero, or eating Dan's head with Reptile is also a blast.

They'd have to make a totally different game than what they are used to. You know, actually COLLABORATE on the product as a whole. It won't work otherwise if they stick to the way they always do things. They will have to start from scratch and come up with something totally new if this game is to work.
