I think the fighting system in MKSM was off the chain. It was better and the characters where more free to do more moves and air combos. I think MK7 fighting system should be more like the one from MKSM.

I still think there are a lot of peeps who, truely, do not understand how SHITTY MKD is. It truely is phenomenal, in a craptastic, wtf, huh, kind of way. With that said.
MKSM mechanics > MKD mechanics
Or, yeah, have someone else develop it; the better of the three options.

it shouldnt be like the mkd 3style fighting system...it was a mess and the engine is crap....mk is so behind...they need to catch up wit the tekkens and vfs

I don't really think they need to "catch up". MK has been behind or alot simpler in gameplay then other fighters on the market since the first MK game and it never really stopped the games from being fun if ya ask me (4 did suck tho >_>)

When it comes to MK7's fighting system, it should be simple and easy to get into, but have some depth to it. It definitely needs to be solid and contain the essentials like wake up game, throw breakers, etc. When it comes to the styles thing, well, I think that for the most part, the characters should have 1 unarmed and 1 weapon style each, but there should be some exceptions to this (e.g. Bo' Rai Cho having a special move that'll take him to Drunken Fist (a.k.a. Zui Quan), Drahmin using a command like 1 + 2 or maybe just a special move to have his mask off to go into the Oni style which will make his attacks in his unarmed (Netherrealm) and weapon (Iron Club) styles more chaotic and powerful but more rigid and harder to control)
Having 1 unarmed and 1 weapon would also benefit if the MK game were to have many characters in it so that time can be saved and that the MK team won't need to incorporate as many styles. One improvement I would like to see is better aerial stuff like in the older MKs. Some people feel that the smaller jumps like in MKDA and MKD are better, because they are more realistic, but since when have MK games really been about realism? I'm not saying that things should be super unrealistic like in those capcom fighting games. I guess what I'm getting at with that little bit is that there should always be a nice mixture and balance of realistic and unrealistic elements.
Going back to the aerial stuff itself, I think it should vary per character. Usually, the lighter characters will jump higher than the heavier characters and things like that. The characters should also feel different when they move. For example, in Drunken Fist, you should get that feeling of Bo' Rai Cho staggering and whatnot and with someone using Ba Gua Zhang, you'll get a very...circular feel to the overall movement.

Now that I think about Namco could probably do a better job than Boon+Co at everything, just because they don't do fatalities in their games doesn't mean they wouldn't be better if they did decide to try.
