Think about it Ed boon said to ign that Raiden will be in parts of the story but won't be the central character like in Mk9. Does this mean he returns to elder god status like in mk4 and fujin becomes the new protector of earth realm? Think about he " stands watch for eternity" meaning he could be watching over earth realm even when he's not present like a god. Just a theory what do you think?

You know what, that actually kind of makes sense.

Someone pointed out in the Raiden thread that his new design is actually fairly similar to his MK4 design. Hmmm. I'm starting to think perhaps there will be more of an MK4 influence on this game after all. Maybe MKX won't be a straight up remake of MK4 like MK2011 was of MK1-3 but I think it will at least be influenced by it.

And in MK4, Fujin was made the new protector of Earthrealm. With this game being the "next generation" of MK, essentially leaping forward in the timeline, it would be fitting for Raiden to step aside as Earthrealm's protector and give the spot to Fujin.

Good thinking.

Or it could mean that the central conflict after 25 years isn't a danger to Earthrealm thus Raiden might not have as much of a reason to get involved.

But then why would Earthrealm warriors be involved? And Raiden is a selectable fighter in the game so that does suggest he has some kind of reason to be involved in this conflict.

The game takes place over 25 years. That's A LOT of time. If Raiden is only involved in the conflict the first 5 or 10 years he'd still probably be playable.

I dont think NRS really likes Fujin.
After MK4 we never see him except Armageddon.
Why he didn't appear in MKDA and deception ?

I would love to see him.

But Ed boon said we will see "one" character from MK4.
I think it will be Tanya. Do you think the one mean only one from MK4?

I doubt it's only 1. Shinnok is a shoe in and that would mean only him. And yeah he was supposed to be dlc for the last game but people kept hacking the game so they didn't release him. I think he said A mk 4 character to mess with peoples heads. Because if he said you definitely will see some mk4 characters that's too easy to narrow down. Jarek obviously wouldn't be in and that leaves shinnok, fujin, Kai, Tanya and reiko. Would have gave too much away

Technically Quan Chi is from Mk4 so obviously is going to be more than one character from that game. wink

What Boon said was that Raiden will still be a key figure, but not central to the overall plot like he was in MK9. I'm hoping this gives Fujin a bigger role.

Would be cool to see Fujin given a more important role. I mean, i know the timeline has changed a lot, but they didn't expand on his new role after the events of MK4, and MKA wasn't such a reference in terms of canon. I do hope Fujin makes it back to the general roster.

They sure need to and one of them is Meat! He can be done really well. Add some flesh hanging off of him for his alt and the undead general attire for his main. Give a new arsenal and fatalities of course.
Sure, he was an unlockable, but, still in the game. I like how they upped his design in MKA and if he was to be in MKX, he would be amazing.
So, hopefully he is in and I wouldn't care if he was only DLC. He is a must!

Kotal Kahn refers to Raiden as "Thunder God". If Raiden was an elder god, I assume that term would be null and void.

Case closed, imho.

Nope.

IMO Kotal Kahns inclusion made me think Fujin is more likely to be in than Raidens reveal. Everyone knew Raiden was going to be in, we get a new war or sun god (still not 100% sure what his deal is) already have the thunder god. Seems like the wind god is a no brainer. We know Shinnock is likely to be in... Ya, my money is on Fujins inclusion.

I don't think NRS hates Fujin. He appeared in Kratos's ending and possibly at some point was considered to become DLC for the MK9. It's just he is not top priority to the NRS. He is not a ninja, he comes from post-MK3 mediocre game (well, two post-MK3 mediocre games really) and he is kind of "Raiden, but with wind" instead of electricity.

Whereas Raiden has iconic look, pretty iconic moveset and interesting powerset, Fujin sadly has nothing so far. His only move, that could be considered iconic to him, was given to D'Vorah in MKX. He is just one of those character who capture herats of select few, but ultimately fail to grow on majority of people and fans, unlike Kenshi. And hence he always will be relegated to the cameos and mentions in biographies and endings.

I teared up when Fujin wasn't in MKDA.

I flat out sobbed when he wasn't in MKD.

And I'll cut someone if he isn't in MKX.

I have my fingers crossed hard as fuck.

IMO we will get Shinnok, Quan Chi, Tanya and Fujin from MK4

And possibly Reiko depending on if they want to leave the Shao Kahn return door open.

No. I think all Ed meant by that comment was Raiden wouldn't be the central character who we follow in this game if there even is one.

So maybe he won't look this stupid this time? then again he wasn't the main character in Armageddon either and he was an even bigger moron in that game.

I think Fujin honestly is probably going to be the Rain of this game and be DLC post launch.
