Maybe it's because Green is the opposite of Red on a Color Wheel?

But that makes them complementary! tongue

Which would make sense if Kano's look was Green AND Red at the same time... but we're talking about one as a replacement for the other, not both acting together in one harmonious look.

It's one OR the other, not one AND the other, and when it's one OR the other... they're just polar opposites.

If red feels right for Kano (and it does) Green just feels wrong to me somehow.

This isn't quite on-topic, but I just now, in this stream, realized how much older Kano looks. Did they age him a little bit, too, on top of the color change?

Not that it bears any importance. All that matters is me parrying the shit out of everyone with his Commando variation. Out of all the characters revealed so far, my dude Commando Kano has been the most titillating gameplay-wise. Second main confirmed.

Hey good eye, I didn't notice that at 1st but it seems like NRS did age Kano more. Kano seems to be one of those characters that will be tough to fight against, just like in MK9.

Hopefully Sonya makes it in so we can have some Kitana vs Sonya matches. BTW Kano with BLUE looks 3x better than with yellow.

Green and Red aren't opposites. Green's opposite is Magenta, Red's opposite is Cyan (I like to call Cyan the underdog of primary colors as most people usually feature orange or pink over cyan that is one of the 6 primary colors) and Blue opposite is Yellow. Basically the CYM colors are the opposites of the RGB colors.

Different color wheels are used in different concepts. It's not correct to say Red and Green aren't opposites, because in some situations they are.

Green is the opposite of red on a standard RYB color wheel, which is the basic color concept used in most areas of art and design. Wherein the primary colors are Blue, Red and Yellow. The secondary colors, which are produced by mixing the primary colors, are Green, Purple and Orange. There are also tertiary colors like Blue-Green, Yellow-Orange, etc... some of which have names (chartreuse, magenta, cyan, etc) but it gets more confusing as you branch out. In these terms, Cyan isn't a primary color, It's a high saturation blue-green.

I get that in terms of light/pixels, based around either a CMY or RGB pallette, Red and Cyan are opposites, but most of us are brought up thinking of colors in a basic "crayola" sense, because as we perceive color, Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Purple and Orange are a more diverse pallette than Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. And most of us are raised to think of color in terms of pigment, not light. And in that sense, Green is the additive opposite of Red.

In terms of light, mixing all the colors produces white, and the absence of any color is black. In terms of pigment, mixing all the colors produces black and the absence of any color is white. This will often lead to confusion amongst people who insist black is one or the other, either the absence or complete mixture of color. They're both half-right.

Anyway, I'm sure you already know most of this, I'm just saying... color isn't all black and white (forgive the word gag). It's not inaccurate to say Green is the opposite of Red, in terms of pigment, but I'll also concede that it's not inaccurate to say cyan is the opposite of red in terms of light.

But since Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple is the basic palette most of us are brought up learning in elementary school art class... that's what I was going with for the purposes of previous discussion. For simplicities sake. :P

(Though simplicity has now gone out the window...)

They probably finally realized people aren't idiots and can read the variation being used by the health bar. So there's no need to make the variation differences so...vibrant.

Like Sub's awful ice mask. Tone that down a bit, please.

And I'm glad they ditched the traffic light scheme. Also glad it was yellow, as green is obviously my favorite color. tongue

In the first trailers we didn't see the health bars,so I assume early in development it wouldn't advertise it so the cues had to be way more obvious.
