Classic characters left?

There would be at least the same amount as MK9 from the start as I recall so that would be 26 in total. There is 7 classics revealed, 11 in total (Goro excluded). That's 15 left and with more new ones than before, there will probably be 12 new ones. That leaves 8 more new ones and 7 classics roughly.

For me these are probably the 7 staple characters from MK1 & 2 that the game could probably never do without: Liu Kang, Sonya, Johnny Cage, Baraka, Reptile, Shang Tsung & Jax. However, Sonya & Cage have an offspring, Quan Chi could finally take over as sole sorcerer and in control of people's souls, Jax could have offspring and maybe Liu could have a family member in instead.

Still, with Kitana in now and her relationship with Liu, I think the chance of him being is very likely. He would be perfect for a story twist with MK9's ending. Along with him, I don't think you can replace Baraka and he's so unique, he should be in (my favourite character, but that's not the point). Reptile is also unique, but with so many other ninja's like Noob & Smoke, they might try to trim that to just Sub-Zero & Scorpion from now on.

So let's say Liu, Baraka and another ninja is in (Reptile, Noob, Smoke or even Ermac). I want to add that while Shao Kahn was a staple character, he has not been in a lot of games and with Kotal Kahn in, I hope he will never return. He was fun for MK2, but as a boss in mk3 it already got old.

Of all the other characters, I think Fujin, Havik, Bo Rai Cho, Frost, any of the robot characters and any of the other women (Mileena, Sindel, Tanya or Mileena) all have a chance of being in. I would say Kenshi would also have chance, but since he was DLC in MK9, I doubt it + with Kenshi's son in the comics, he's probably going to replace him.

Besides new characters, I'm still waiting on Shinnok and hoping he will be playable.

Of those you mentioned I think ermac and Bo rainchonjave the best chance of returning. Bo rai cho because he seems popular and he's in the casting call for the mkx series. Ermac because he's insanely popular and had a massive mk9 online presence, I think smoke has an equal if not slightly lesser chance than ermac for the same reasons.

I'd love to see reptile back, and I think he has a good chance. Same for noob saibot because I dig him but I don't really see that happening.

I wouldn't count johnny or sonya out because of Cassie, they both have a lot of work to do for earth realm being the sole forces of light survivors. Story wise they'd be perfect representatives of the transition being shown from mk9 to the next generation of fighters.

I think that Baraka, Mileena, and Reptile are pretty much a given in terms of MK1-3 chars. Liu Kang and Johnny Cage have been mentioned in interviews as well (I believe).

I hope they don't put in any more than that, because there should still be room for PS2 era and new characters. They made the risk of throwing out fan favorites in place of more obscure ones in MKD, they can do it again in MKX.

My wish list; Fujin, Shinnok, Ermac, Rain, Smoke, Kai, Li Mei, Hotaru, Kenshi, Tanya, Serena, Reiko, Mavado... and even Hsu Hao would possibly be awesome.

And maybe some secret gimmick/DLC characters like Tremor, K/Chameleon, Comic Characters and maybe a guest character that's in the MKverse like Dovahkiin or Voldemort.

Just give me at least 2 (TWO) Revamped 3D era characters, that are not Quan Chi and I will be satisfied and stop complaining..
For real, Jax is ridicolus, I hope Sonya, Jax, Cage and Smoke are OUT this game.

I would see Liu, Smoke & Jade coming back. Stryker, Kabal & Nightwolf would return in the next sequel.

Besides Liu deserves a new makeover since that sparking from Raiden.

Give me those 7 returning characters and I'm good. Anything else is gravy. I won't waste my time asking for characters like Nitara and Ashrah(even though I want them in so bad) because we already know the answer to those.

Ugh. Guess this means Lui Kang, Reptile, or Baraka are coming back. They are about as classic as it gets at this point.


I have a feeling Jax and Jade had a baby, and we might get another offspring.

I prefer the freaks (Mileena, Reptile, Baraka, Havik) to those boring humans (Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Kung, Kitana) that will make up the majority of MKX roster.

Now that I have Kitana, I can breathe a little and just sit back and relax. Aside from her, the only other characters I want are:

-Reiko
-Kenshi
-Johnny Cage
-Shang Tsung
-Noob Saibot

First 3 have a high probability of making it. Last 2 unfortunately do not.

For me the spot for returning characters will be only for characters from MK9.

If they wanted to develop the characters from the MK4 - MK DA - MK D
they would not have created so many new characters this time in MK X.

If they put characters of these games (MK4 -MK DA - MK D) will be via DLC .

I say 12 new ones from the remaining 15 is a little too much, I would hope it would be evenly divided between classic MK9 characters returning (seems we're going to see more of those coming), brand new and MK4 and 3D era characters.

From the latter: Tanya, Sareena, Havik, Bo', Kenshi, Fujin and Reiko seem to be the most requested.

This game seems to be the best suited for the "Freak" type characters anyway. I think a lot of the unique 3D era characters like Nitara, Havik, Drahmin, ect would feel right at home in MKX's dark and twisted atmosphere, probably fit in more than they ever had before. Which is why I hope and pray NRS has a few "curveballs" hidden up their sleeves than people like Sonya, Jax, Cage, and Liu*barfs*

I think it has been hinted that Sonya, Johnny, Liu, and even Kenshi might be playable. And as of now, I'm going to go by the 24 character count for the bare minimum and guess that we can see 14 retuning characters and 10 new characters.

So with that said:
1. Scorpion
2. Sub-Zero
3. Raiden
4. Kano
5. Quan Chi
6. Kung Lao
7. Kitana
8. Liu Kang
9. Johnny Cage
10. Sonya Blade
11. Kenshi

Leaving three characters left, I'm hoping for:

12. Bo' Rai Cho
13. Tanya
14. Fujin

and if there's more than 24 characters (like 26 or 28 with 10 new characters):

15. Reiko
16. Mileena
17. Ermac
18. Shinnok

I can see Shinnok not be playable and be like a sub-boss character potentially and Havik is another character I can see as a playable character.

I'd say my top 5 atm are

1- Fujin
2 - Shinnok
3. Kai
4. Bo Rai Cho
5. Probably Reptile, Ermac, or Rain.

I'm willing to bet we will see.. 2 characters out of the five, couldn't decide who I want more for the last pick.

Other possibilities, but less certain:

18. Shinnok ( Mk9 ending and the Netherealm war story setup)
19. Jax ( Boot#5 )
20. Kenshi/Takeda ( Thinking only one, maybe both? )
21. Baraka
22. Sonya
23. One of the cyborgs ( I'm thinking Cyrax )

One or two more curveball type characters...

23. Fujin?
24. Tanya?

And then about four other new characters, this brings the total to 28-29, which is what MK9 had.
