From watching the videos, there are a lot of cinematic scenes in Shaolin Monks. I think if there were more of these in mk7, then that would rock.
In the latest tekken you have a bit of a conversation about the 4th match, another towards the end, and then get to chat to the final boss. This is cool. MK could expand on that, and maybe have a few linking scenes, or even just words and stills of what happens in-between fights, making it like more of a story, and less a set of random battles.
If they could make a branching story based on choices you make, or how well you fought, that would rock my socks extra hard.

well since MK7 will come out on Next Gen consoles, I dont see why they would not want to Add more Cinematics to the game Even have them for Character Endings. It wouldn't hurt. But I also would be upset if the didn't

It won't happen because MK has their cinematics done out of house. So Unlike Tekken or SC, they have to go different company for that, and they just don't have a budget that big.
I still think Cinematics should return.
They werent THAT bad in Mk4, and the voice acting was good overall (only a few characters had awful voices like Rayden and Kitana).
They should make some for Mk7, for endings, or for stories, or for strange cut-scenes,....I hope to see them return.

I think we all agree that they'd make the game more enjoyable, although of course it's not as important as gameplay.
I think that is was true in the past that doing cinematic bits was really expensive, but nowadays technology/methods for doing stuff like lipsyncing and motion capture are probably quite cheap if you don't want the very best quality- i reckon it could be done.
They don't have to be prerendered-especially with the power of ps3 or xbox 2 they could just use the in game engine and models and it'd look fantastic.
If they were really strapped for cash, a few words in between fights, like in the training modes in DA and Deception, maybe with a picture like in the endings would suffice to tell the story.
