I could see another Trilogy/Armageddon type game down the line at some point with EVERYONE in it.

I think every character has some chance of returning. I certainly think we'll see Darrius and Kira again.

If Darrius returns he is definitely getting his ass kicked.

NRS haven't forgotten about Kira that they put her in MK9 as she was seen chained up in Kahn's Coliseum. Maybe she will have a cameo again or just mentioned in the story mode of MKX, I hope so.

I may have hated Darrius, he is after all my most hated Mortal Kombat character, it's not like he'll never appear again. As stated in a thread I made about "why have something new when we could have better" certain characters shouldn't get ditched because they were piss poor when it came to their debut. They should get worked on so that they get another chance to please the fans they couldn't please before.

And I'm fairly certain it's not that hard of a thing to do. You just don't make it seem so gosh darn lazy and have it be painfully noticeable towards the fans. And since Netherrealm Studios got a second chance and doing things right, why can't certain characters get the same treatment?

There is a good chance that hsu Hao and Meat are going down the drain. I kinda liked Hsu hao, we needed a mongolian Nadam Boke wrestler, and I even dug that whole manly gay setup he had. He was still leagues above Reiko in development and originality.


Truth be told, if the fanbase had a real say in it, MK1-3 would be the only thing remaining. If so, then MK would lose out big time here. What would be a complete shame.

Wasn't there a time when Stryker's return was deemed impossible too? Many people were also sure Li Mei and Bo Rai Cho wouldn't return in MKD. I so love when fans are wrong.

Every characters has a chance of returning, eventually. It just takes a long ass time for some of them, that's all.

Hsu Hao - bye, Boon hates you, and you got no love for fans, so you are finished.

Meat - Nice joke, maybe cameo. Bye.

Mokrap - On most lists you are the worst character, you were a joke, maybe in some cameo you being killed because the killer mistook you for Cage.

Kobra - I could make you better, Boon doesn't want to take time on you. Bye.

Darrius and Dairou - Little chance, next.

I don't think Motaro will ever show his horse-ass again, Boon seems rather hatefull to him.

Drahmin can only be saved by his most loyal fans, much like Rain is always saved by his many fans, if it was for Boon, Rain and Drahmin would never show again.

I'm rather stuck on Moloch.

There is no reason to believe Jarek will ever return, he was by far the worst character in MK4 and just another Kano clone without the cool eye-stuff going on for him.

I hope they never ever use Li Mei again, but she did return in Deception, so she has a fair chance. I wouldn't mind if she was flushed down the toilet. Bye.

Blaze, Onaga.... I don't know, maybe they appear in cameo's, but I doubt they ever make it.

Shujinko, I almost forgot him, that is his problem, he's so fucking forgettable...

I think we have seen the last of Stryker, Nightwolf, Sindel, Sheeva and Kintaro... I wouldn't mind them back, but chances are slim.

Frost, i'll hope she returns, but i'm not sure, same for Nitara.

Kira had a very reasonable cameo in MK2011, I wouldn't give up on her, they could give her new abilities and voila! Kira isn't all that bad, just need some new stuff going on for her in the ability-department.


All others have fair chances.

Mainly the characters that are dubbed as joke characters might not ever return again. To name the top 3, Mokap, Chameleon and maybe Meat.

All other characters who only made one appearance, do have a chance to return in MKX or in a future game. There are many and they are Fujin, Kai, Reiko, Shinnok, Jarek, Hsu Hao, Nitara, Drahmin, Moloch, Frost, Havik, Ashrah, Dairou, Darrius, Shujinko, Kira and Kobra. If I forgot anyone, I apologize.

I have a feeling that we may see characters that made cameos in MK9, present in MKX.

Some of the 3D newbees could be given a fair chance. Back in the Midway days the games needed to be delivered asap. So many hings, including the new characters were rushed. Some of them really deserve a second chance.

And I see some of them getting that already in MKX. I dislike most of them though. I ́d like to see the return of Kenshi, Mavado, Li Mei and Ashrah. I see many of the MK4 newbees return.

Another character I think is good as dead and we should never see again or heard about for a while is Jax

I remember having a conversation with NRS at E32012 when injustice was announced. We spoke of the technical aspect of the realistic animations and just how hard it would really be to include a 4-legged Motaro in the quality way they would like to. I left that part of the conversation in complete belief that we wouldn't ever see Motaro again unless NRS really, really, really could achieve it in the way they envision him to perform in-game. They would want to do it right, which I respect.

That being said. Here is my list (as playable/fightable)

-Sindel (I believe Kitana and/or Ermac will carry Edenia's plot devices for her)
-Moloch
-Jarek (after MKX where he will almost certainly die non-playable)
-Darrius
-Mokap

Taven should return. Daegon should return. They're half-gods. How is that not kool?
Shujinko is too old to be interesting. Perhaps only in the background.
From Deception- Havik (therefore Hotaru too) and Ashrah were great.
From DA- Kenshi was very interesting. Drahmin and Moloch were scary and fascinating. I'm 50-50 on Nitara. Her development is difficult with the whole vampire cliches.
MK4 had many amazing characters, from mysterious evil sorcerer Quan Chi to imprisoned Elder God Shinnok, from General Reiko to elemental God Fujin, from thousands of years old hottie Tanya to secret White Lotus society member Kai.

Don't you want Kira to be playable/in the roster? She would be a good addition in MKX. All in all, make her look like a female (face). Her bone structure is very manly in MKD/A.

So, pretty much just about everyone from the 3D era. I highly, HIGHLY doubt NRS would permanently ax any of the Trilogy cast. Doing so would ignite a maelstrom of hate and indignation from probably 3/4th of the community, no matter the character. Stryker, maybe they could get away with, and obviously the technical nightmare that is Motoro, but no other character beyond those two and Khameleon and Chameleon. Sad about Khameleon.

Characters who have a slim chance of returning:

Li Mei
Hotaru
Havik
Frost
Ashrah
Kira (very slim)

These characters have real potential and need a little work design/story/move-wise, but I really don't feel they have a better than 20% chance of returning. Too bad, but I could really see NRS axing all of these characters too...with the exception of Havik. Weird, but people seem to like him, so...*shrug*.

We could always see them as NPC's, of course.

Though I don't need to see him return, I think they can't work their way around Shujinko. He's already busy gathering Kamidogu (and thus busy reviving Onaga). What about him? His plot is very, VERY important storywise.

Many don't see him returning, myself included. But how are they gonna wrap this one up?

I'm one who hopes he does. On the good side, with a twist (gone bad) or as the boss (good/bad). I just can't see him just being in as a cameo in story mode. Playable from main roster or unlockable. DLC is not an option as they don't play a role in story mode.

It would be cool that the moment Shujinko shows up, he's killed on the spot somehow. Then the whole Onaga thing is averted. Problem solved. ^^

That's exactly what I was thinking. Simple solution. And if NRS does want to revisit this storyline later, they could just say that after Shujinko's death, "Damashi" had someone else gather the kamidogu. Apep for instance.

As for who I think we're not gonna see anymore (in vs mode)

I didnt put Mavado or Drahmin on the List. I have this small gut feeling they will be in MKX. If Drahmin is in, somebody will make a "Meat" reference in the story mode, retconning them as the same character. If Ryu is the guest character, he should have a Kobra skin

I think them returning in lieu of other, more favorable characters actually may have contributed to their dislike. On the other hand, them actually showing up in more than one game helped them gain ground with fandom too.

Indeed, problem solved I guess. But he is already absorbing skils from other warriors, If they kill him like that, fine. But let it at least be done by a really powerful character. Don ́t kill him just to close up his storyline. He deserves alittle more credit than that.

I actually considered Shujinko as a candidate to be the new bad guy. Would be a WTF to many of us. But there are too many people who are gonna hate that plot twist.
