the list could go on forever. the mk universe is so rich in storyline, (but has huge plot holes)its massive storyline has given way to endless spinoff games, which will probobly be a big part of future mk games. my favorites:

stryker, when mk3 starts. sort of like a survival/horror game, with him alone in the city, with outworld demons attacking him. think of 28 days later. some refugees would survive, including ike (something like that) that one of the previous people mentioned

kabal, before and after mk3, how he got his "situation" with the necessity of an artificial respirator. including when he hunts down the black dragon members, which leads to confrontation of kano (kano wins but cant bear to kill kabal) and the recruitment of jarek, who is kano's disciple. that happens not long before he is attacked by mavado.

kenshi. what more need i say?

Guess I'm drinking too much caffeine, but while reading another thread in the Classic Game forum an idea came to me about another character that could have his own game.....Johnny Cage.

Not an action/adventure, but more Simulation based. Make your own MK movie.....*sigh* No what I really mean is that alot of people are saying that Johnny has no depth to his story, but after thinking about it there just has to be more to the clown. Like why did he feel he had to prove himself so much? Other actors would just shrug it off and continue making their multi-million dollar movies. How the hell did he get to be one of the 'chosen' at the tournament if he was only a clown? Raiden (or the Elder Gods. I'm not really sure who does the chosing.) had to have seen something in Johnny to make him worthy. Perhaps there is something in Johnny's past that can answer all of this or perhaps we can see what really happened to him between MK2 and MK3. How did he really die and what did his soul do while he was dead?

Ok, now I'm going to put away the Mountain Dew and regain my sanity.

Smoke should have his own game. It would start just before MK 1 and go through the entire MK present day time span. From his normal routines with Sub-Zero, Sektor and Cyrax, at the Lin Kuei, to his spy mission on Sub-Zero in MK II, all the way through his automation in MK 3, and bring somehow tie in his involvment in MKD. After that the game could actually go further and tell his story more. Does he eventually become the blue print to Noob's Cyber Demon army? Does he reach salvation and ascend from his cybernetic shell and become something completely different? Borrowing from games like KOTOR, Jade Empire, and Fable, there would be Purity meter which would shift depending on your actions. If you go the light path, you might be able to ascend and finally find peace. If you go the dark path, you might find yourself in an allgiance with Sektor and his Tekunin army or maybe establish your own terror by dropping allof your previous beliefs. Sharring from Shaolin Monks, Smoke would have access to his fatalities and then upgrade them even further.

Smoke would obviously change through game as you went on from ninja, to cyborg, and then to wraith. The game would have the precsion of say something like Ninja Gaiden, and maybe the same amount of difficulty and polish. Different weapons would be at your dissposal, as well as powers, depending on your alliance and style of killing. The world would also be mostly free roaming with some linear paths and cut offs. About the size of Morrowind, to take into account the different realms you would visit on your journey.

I just think that Smoke is a character that has been severley underused, and can be flushed out much more with some clear direction and thought. And because of his MK story being so short, and his envolvement so little, it would leave for some very creative opprotunities to expand on him much more after those short events.

I love everything you said...and actually, a "make your mk movie" game with J. Cage sounds fun to me. grin

I hope the team actually decides to focus on him in the next game, adventure or fighter, he has SO much potential! He just needs to be developed.
