ive been watching some gameplay and I noticed that the character models don't look like they take any damage. In mk9 they had eyeballs hanging out and skin falling off. Have you guys noticed any damage that I missed or do you think it was a conscious decision to leave that out due to the more serious tone of the game?

Honestly I never cared for the damage thing in MK9. It wouldn't bother me if it's gone. If it IS in the game I hope they make it a bit more realistic and well done.

Yeah it was kinda cheesy. It was just something I noticed. They are covered in blood but no physical damage.

That's alright with me, I loved the battle damage in MK9 but it isn't something I will be pissed off about not returning. I do think it would be cool if the damage was a little more subtle, unless they received an X-ray, they should be real messed up after one of those lol

Did MK9's early early videos have battle damage? I didn't think they did, but I could be wrong.
I enjoyed the damage, but a lot of it was too over the top, and at some points took away from the "oh wow" gore factor fatalities are supposed to have.
So I support a tone-down, but it definitely should still be present.

Yeah I booted it up yesterday to play some Kung Lao for the first time and it looked like his eyelids were ripped off lol. Some of them just didn't look good at all. I'm with you though, a more realistic approach would be awesome like actual dynamic damage where if you hit the arm it cuts the arm.

Steve Baron said the new damage system is so advanced that it shows every cut n looks alot more realistic. Im guessing its just toned down til the game releases

It will have damage, its just that it will be very advanced this time around.
Like Smoke's eyelids wont be gone if you punch him hard enough anymore
Watch the Kano trailer again, you see how in his xray, the ribcage is cut diagonally like how it should if a knife did that, that's how the damage will be.
It's not copy paste anymore

I caught that too. That was way cool.

I literally cringed the first time I saw Kano's xray. None of them in MK9 had that effect on me.

Went and looked up some early mk9 footage and it was in there but I'm glad somebody said it was included. They seem to be holding game information hostage this time around lol.

It needed to be downgraded. That shit was seriously overdone to the point of being silly. I'm all for battle damage. There should be bruises, cuts, blood, and torn clothing. Now what they don't need is chunks of flesh missing and removed eyelids.

In MK9 after seeing them with chunks of flesh missing, it reminded me of Zombie Liu Kang back in MKD. It was horrible.
