Here's the link to a small section of an interview Ed Boon had briefly discussing MK10. It's not long, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

I hope it comes out in 3 years. That should be sufficent time for the game to "breathe"

Call me selfish, but if they're going to wait that long, than it would be nice to see some more DLC.

Sure, you can always saturate the market, whether it be in terms of genres or specific games simply coming out too often (if Activision has taught us nothing), but I don't think that the fighting genre is really in that much danger of having TOO MANY entries.

As for MK itself though, I'm fine with them taking as long as it takes to make the next game, but I just don't think that they should delay themselves for worry of providing too much of a good thing.

If the next game takes two or even three years to make, you won't hear a lot of people saying "it's too soon" considering the fact that EA releases a new sports game each year (in spite of the fact that online roster updates would proably work just as well for at least another year) and Activision, well, they're Activision.

There's something to be said about keeping some good memories in the minds of fans, rather than taking five years and having people forget how good the last game was, so you're essentially climbing the same hill twice.

Take two years, three if you really need them, but don't give people the time to really forget about MK2011. Keep the positive momentum going.

Give it a while. Before MK2011 was announced and made in to it's own forum, this was the forum used more frequently than any other forum. It'll happen again in the not too distant future.

I think it'll come out on 2013 as one of the last current gen games, just like Armageddon.

If it came out any time less, then it'd be rushed.

Yeah, I think that will be way too long. I think that they should at least consider releasing a sequel to the game in 2012 in the mid to late quarter of that year. It would be essential for them to keep the momentum going from the success of this revamped series of the game.

I think that if they wait that long to release another Mortal Kombat game than there should a good reasoning behind the delay such as releasing the game along with the alledged movie production for marketing purposes, or maybe they're really trying to take Mortal Kombat on a bigger scale that it hasn't been on before in the fighting game genre. If that's the case and if what they are trying to do is going to set Mortal Kombat apart from any other fighting game in the market than I'm fine with them taking as long as it takes to make the game incredible.

But on the flip side of the issue, it would be a complete travesty for them to take such a long period of time to make the game and it be a disappointment to the fans. Most people in society have short attention spans so I would imagine that with such a great boost of momentum coming from the remake of this game, that they would try to keep the momentum going in moderation.

MORTAL KOMBAT INTRO VIDEO & THEME: - I also think that maybe a cool idea for an intro reel to the game if the theme is going to captured as "Fire & Ice" with Scorpion & Sub-Zero as the leading characters of this series. I would display highly graphic shots from head to toe of first Scorpion executing a series of martial arts forms in a fiery and brimstone like background in his Klassic ninja palette swap costume from MK1. And throughout his martial arts form, the camera can cut in and out to random footage of him executing a series of combos, brand new moves, air-juggles or techniques against an opponent alternating the shots of him performing martial arts forms and his gameplay footage. Then following Scorpion's feature would be Sub-Zero highly graphic showcase from head to toe of him performing a series of martial arts forms in a frigid and blistering cold like backdrop in his Klassic ninja palette swap costume from MK1. And like Scorpion, throughout his martial arts form, the camera can cut in and out to random footage of him executing a series of combos, brand new moves, air-juggles or techniques against an opponent alternating shots of him performing martial arts forms and his actual gameplay footage. And then finally the camera could cut to a full shot from head to toe of both Scorpion & Sub-Zero on a split screen performing a series of martial arts forms with the splitting line disappearing towards the end of their forms. And the camera shot could end with both Scorpion & Sub-Zero executing their signature moves towards the camera with Scorpion throwing his harpoon and Sub-Zero throwing ice towards the camera and then flashing the MK Logo on screen prominent and centered.

MK10 + MK 3rd Movie = 2013

probably late 2013 too.

In the meantime, I want that new MK adventure game to come along!

----

Y'know, I'd actually wait for MK10 + the movie so that MK10 could come out on the next gen consoles though. So, if it comes out late 2013 like I think it will, it just might do that.

confused

Still...I'd rather have the adventure game sooner (mid 2012-ish), and have that be the last MK game on current consoles.

I dunno Pred, I'd like to have an adventure game in mid 2012 as well, but do you think that's enough time? It's already approaching the end of November. That'd give them what, 7 month, maybe 8 to do a full game?

Even if they started working on it a few months ago, that time frame doesn't seem overly likely unless we're talking about an XBLA/PSN game.

I do think that you're spot on about MK10 and the MK movie coming out in the same year. I'd actually be shocked if that DIDN'T happen. Which probably means that E3 2012 could be the reveal of the next MK game. To me, that's perfect timing in terms of momentum.

MK2011 sold very well for a good period of time and DLC kept it fresh until what, late August? Sorry, my memory's a little fuzzy on that.

But somewhere in the neighborhood of a 8 or 9 month lull between the final DLC's release for one game and the announcement of the next game, with a full year to a year and a half to release images, videos, character announcements etc seems absolutely perfect for me.

Let's hope we're right!

Mortal Kombat will probably loose momentum with that spacing gap. I just hope that they utilize the time to really spar on the improvements of MK10 with the momentum they have with MK9. Some things that I hope they have added to the next series of Mortal Kombat would be the following:

NEW CHARACTERS:

- Characters that are completely new to the franchise in terms of video game play would provide some excitement.
- Characters with they're own flare, specialty moves and personalities.
- Female characters that are presented as fighters instead of pole dancers.
- Characters with unique specialty moves and fighting styles.
- Limit roster down to maximum of sixty characters.
- Characters basic moves, basic and advanced combos, specialty moves, X-Ray moves, finishing moves be well-thought out and well-defined such as the listing of Tekken 6's characters move set. Going through just a single character's move set can take almost over ten minutes.
- Characters should have at least 9 specialty moves to execute in gameplay.
- More hidden and unlockable characters.

CHARACTER COSTUMES:

- I'd preferr characters that have more of a traditionalized martial arts look i.e. (gi, MK1 ninja palette swaps, hakamas, Mandarin robes, sashes, kimonos, kung fu suits, kickboxing gear and military attire.)
- The primary costume of the characters being the default option with the traditionalized martial arts look with the alternate being a different shade of color to the primary default costume.
- An option to include/unlock or download secondary costumes with a civilian and/or comtemporary look.

FIGHTING MECHANICS:

- The air juggles, knockout mechanics need drastic work. Characters turn into rag dolls when hit with air juggle combos, and fall like statues with knockout hits.
- The mechanics of the characters basic forms and moves of the characters should crisp and tightened.
- Reactions to winning/loosing a round in a match should be realistic as possible and simulate the reaction of a real fight.

GAMING MODES

- Gaming modes can be reimagined to give the game a different edge.
- Mini-games should depicted as a real life challenge in terms of fighting.
- If going into a 3-D format it should be to the level of a Tekken 6 or better, anything else in my opinion would be a disappointment.
- Up to 3 partners in tag team partners.
- Survival Matches included in Arcade Ladders (i.e. singles fight 3 opps. in a row, tag team fights 5 in a row, triple team fights 7 in a row.)
- Bring back endurance matches.
- Survival Mode, Adventure Mode, Challenge Tower, Tag Team Ladder, Entry Mode, Practice Mode and Training Mode.

STAGES

- More Klassic stages from MK1, MK: DA, MKA and MK vs. DC.

NEXT MK THEME:

- Fire & Ice with Scorpion & Sub-Zero as frontmen for the theme.

^^ But i love pole dancers type of ladies.:P

I dunno about how long we're gonna have to wait for MK10. I didn't mind about having no more DLC for MK9 after a time and didn't mind about the 2013 announcement for the sequel. But i have doubts about the time they'll spend on that vita exclusive game. The news/source i read might just be spreading rumors but i fear a Mythologies remake. That is bad if that actually happens imo. Unless they find a magical way to make it better.
