I read the title and instantly thought "APRIL FOOLS JOKE INSIDE" and it didn't disappoint. Giving the joke it's own section was a great touch. But not enough to fool me.

This is obviously an April Fools joke, but I think they're being more sly than we're giving them credit for. The "Special Forces" part seems like the joke, but the other info about voice actors and enemy factions could very well be a reality for MK10. My instinct tells me that this is Netherrealm's way of releasing some legit info about their next game, but disguising it as a joke. If true, well played Netherrealm, well played.

The only thing Ed Boon's retracted is Injustice: Ultra Edition. He's yet to post anything on the Special Forces bit being a prank.

Far be it for me to question Mick's imagination when coming up with these April Fools gags, but Tara Strong was an odd choice considering that in the original MKSF, as part of its weird 70's Blaxploitation theme, Gemini's voice sounded like a Foxy Brown-type character. I would've maybe gone with Cree Summer.

You can go two ways: It's one of those off kilter casting choices that actually happen all the time -- or it was a tell. There are always tells for fair play.


Some people took it poorly, but I think if MKSF fans take a look, we honoured the potential and started a legitimate dialogue for anyone interested.
