Brazil news article: Cassie v.a, Portugese dubbing & mention of Johnny Cage (Updated)

Another novelty in the pantheon of artists who lend their voices to the games just arrived: the singer Pitty will cameo in the dubbing Mortal Kombat X, announced Warner Bros.

The rocker will give voice to a major new character in the game, the fighter Cassie Cage, who in the history of the game is the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonia Blade, two of the most famous fighters of the franchise.

"I've had the opportunity to work on several projects, but never thought I would be part of a game like Mortal Kombat, which marked much my teens. The character I play, Cassie Cage, is strong, fast and has a very interesting history. You will be surprised to see it in action," said the singer.

Speaking of history, for those unaware , Mortal Kombat X will have an original story that will merge several classic characters like Scorpion, Sub -Zero, Johnny Cage and more, and the debut of new fighters, as D'vorah, Kotal Kahn and Ferra & Torr, among others.

The participation of Pitty as voice actress Cassie Cage is a great bet Warner Bros. to the impact of the game in Brazil. "The Mortal Kombat franchise is a dividing of the entertainment industry waters, over 35 million copies sold since its first title, a reference in various media. We are excited to be working on the location of this highly anticipated title with a renowned artist and fan of the brand, as is the case with Pitty," said Nelson Sambrano, director of marketing for Warner Bros. Brazil.

Mortal Kombat X arrives in Brazil in April for PlayStation 4 , PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC . The game will come entirely in Portuguese.

That Gamestop commercial has had me on edge, I'd be so let down to not play as Johnny Cage. Let's hope this quote means something. Thanks for the glimmer of hope.

I hope he's playable too; Boon did say in an interview not long after E3 that part of the story (I assume the bit right after MK9) would be largely about the Cage family.

Then later him and other NRS members mentioned Sonya, Johnny & Liu Kang having 3 different variations that reflect their aging...

I really hope he is playable and their talk wasn't just examples of how some characters appearances will change over the course of the story & that Sonya and Johnny would cameo.

It's so weird how many conflicting sources about Johnny Cage are floating around, Adam Urbano slipped and said he was in, Gamestop straight out says he's not, he's in the web series, which is set at the 25 years in point, judging by the fact Takeda is in his mid twenties in the casting call, so he's alive up until then at least, but then Sonya is wearing a ring that "may" be his, so he "may" be actually be dead, making the web series non canon. Now we have the Cassie lines that were posted in another thread mentioning him in the present tense and this as well...

So frustrating, and I doubt we'll know for sure until launch.

It seems crazy that the two survivors of MK9 wouldn't be playable. Maybe that is there intention to keep us guessing and to show off more unexpected characters like Kung Lao and Kitana, to fuck with us. This looks like the most exciting Mortal Kombat game I've waited for and I've been playing for 19 years at this point. Sure it's a small piece of the puzzle, but i want my favorite character in there just like anyone else. That being said I want Sonya in there too, to see the dynamic between them. Ever since the first movie I've been rooting for them, and now that it has happened, (at least at some point, maybe not for very long), I want to see where it goes.

What has me worried is this is a trend, Johnny seems to get the short end of the stick in regards to the MK1 cast. Survives 2, dead before 3 begins, survives Deadly Alliance, dead before Deception begins, and then he's the only MK1 character left out of MK/DC. With Liu and Sonya "maybe sorta" confirmed by that faction video, that means he may be,once again, the only original MK1 character left out.

Doesn't mean I won't love the game immensely,I'm not going to throw a fit if my favorite character isn't in, doesn't mean I won't be at least slightly disappointed, considering this could easily be the best in the series.

And it's been stressed at least twice that the web series ties into the games story like the comic does, so he'd have to be alive wouldn't he?

I wish I could find the articles about the web series that stated it was canon but I've looked for 30 minutes now and still haven't found them.

I've got the horrible feeling that Warner Brothers will save Cage as DLC to promote the web series where he seems to be the star, just to maximize profits. He is the 7th most played MK9 character according to event hubs, and would easily sell more than a 3D era/obscure side game character.

I can just imagine the ads on Machinima after each episode "You've seen him in the web series, now PLAY as him in the game BUY NOW! BUY NOW!"

According to MK9's official statistics, he's in the top 5 on Xbox, PS and PC.

Yeah that's a possibility.

The article states he's one of the most known and is a "classic character"; "classic", "Klassic kombatants", he could be one of the two in the Kombat Pack- but when does the web-series start because wouldn't it be a bit late to promote him if he's a part of a pack that's in pre-order collector editions?

No way. He's a series staple. That would be such a scummy move. It just doesn't seem right to make Cage DLC. If they had it for MKvsDC I could see that, but even him not being in that was pretty confusing.

Yes, the Kombat Pack screams Season Pass. I'm praying he's past klassic and has become necessary. Will there ever be a day when Cage isn't the most likely to be killed?

The only spoiler I read for MK9's story was titled the only 2 survivors of MK9. I shit my pants out of relief, rather than pure fear or laxatives.

The Kombat Pack does definitely sound like a season pass, if it's not I think everyone would be surprised.

Personally I'm hoping Johnny isn't DLC at all and is in the main roster.

But however he's included as playable, we'll get him because he'll either be:

. In the main game roster,
. In the Kombat Pack (which I'll have because I pre-ordered)
. Or he'll be DLC later (and I'll buy any DLC released outside of the Kombat Pack).

JC seems like the most requested character so it would be crazy for NRS not to let the fans play as him either way.
