The invitation was a message the Red Dragon told Erron to give Sonya's group. And Kano had left before Mavado was killed.

It's likely that Erron Black could be affiliated with the Red Dragon. It seemed that Kotal Kahn and Black Dragon did not claim Erron as one of their own. He could be used to infiltrate Kotal Kahn's ranks. I'm sure he will play some part when Reiko overthrows Kotal Kahn in the story mode.
I was also disappointed about them not letting Kano kill Movado. It's very rare that a rivalry in MK is given a chance to have a definitive ending. I feel like they missed an oppotunity here.
So I'm not the only one who thinks...
