I kind of feel like Skarlet isn't even a canon character. She was just a DLC idea to go with the nostalgia theme since there were lots of hidden characters in the early games.

You feel like she isn't canon but she's the one chained up in Kahn's Arena so that makes no sense. Skarlet is very interesting character with her blood power and her being an assassin for Shao Kahn, now that he's dead she can forge her own path. Plus she's my namesake so she has to stay around lol.
I don't want to offend anyone by bashing their favorite character, this is just how I feel about the situation. I still don't really see Skarlet as a canon character, even with her in the background of Kahn's arena. I don't find her interesting, she's basically Ermac, except with blood instead of souls. Also, How many assassins do we already have? If Kahn only really trusts the enforcers of his that he created, he's already got Mileena, does he need Skarket?
Nitara was okay, I never really cared about her although her primary costume in MKDA would have looked nice on Sindel. Nitara was the first vampire in the series, so that's kind of something. If they could make her worth a shit with an interesting story, I would not mind seeing her again. Skarlet was, from the beginning, just another assassin.
