I believe Mortal Kombat has just gone all willy-nilly on the edge as it can get.
As such I suppose a franchise reboot to be in order.
Scrap the entirety of the last generation.
Start a new game with roughly 20 BRAND NEW CHARACTERS.
and not a single one will be a clone of a previous one.
Anyway,
I'm still waiting for Earth God to be playable.

Sadly to say, you will not get just 20 brand new characters like that because you will have Sub-Zero and Scorpion returning seeing how Boon clearly stated that they will be in every MK game that will be made. And what do you mean by "Not a singly one will be a clone of a previous one?"

The idea of say....Scorpions son comes to mind. Or like Sub-Zero and Frost.
Or Kira and Kano.
Or Shujinko and a few of the other characters
Or Chameleon , or Khamelon and all the other ninjas
Or Kenshi and Ermac
OR ect ect ect....

I'm not for a literally "completely new" roster, but I would appreciate a chunk of these characters dieing off, retiring, or just gravitating away from//rotating out of MK as their stories should carry them.

I feel that alot of the new mk characters from MK3-MKA haven't been really given a chance.

Yeah, I agree.
And I also agree with the 20 brand new characters. But i think they should throw in some minor characters that haven't gotten much attention.
Like Nitara, Chameleon, Cyrax and Sektor.

20 new characters would be fine. That is exactly what mortal kombat needs. And no one said Scorpion and Subzero would be excluded Icebaby.

I wouldn't mind Scorpion and Sub-Zero in every game. Since they ARE MK.
But I disagree with reusing minor characters. A fresh start is what is needed.
And what I mean by clones is like Kano and Jarek and Kira, Goro and Kintaro. Etc.
And it should take place sometime over many years since Deception.
With an old Sub-Zero, during his last stand as Grand Master of Lin Kuei.
Before he dies and the moniker is passed on.

If you want damn near all the characters to disappear.....why even call it MK. Imagine if Marvel or DC killed off all the characters they made.....not many people would be happy. I disagree with the all new roster idea, sorry.
No offense to fans of the newer characters, but they just don't do much for me. Hotaru was probably the last (newer) character created that I liked. With so many characters in existense, why create 20 more.
"Noone ever(really)dies in Mortal Kombat"-Ed Boon

I love how people always repeat this quote like it was said as a definite official canon rule or policy. And it wasn't even Ed Boon who said it.
Anyway, I wouldn't get rid of every character...only most of them. There are a small...very small...handful of characters I would keep for "iconic" value. No more than four or five, though. The rest would consist mainly of the more recent characters who've barely had a chance to go somewhere.
Aside from that, all new characters.
