A three-way war come the next game!

Earthrealm's warriors
Raiden
Sonya
Johnny Cage
Smoke
CSubZ
Stryker
Kabal
Jax
Jade

Outworlders
Sindel
Mileena
Shang Tsung(?)
The Lin Kuei
The Shokan
The Tarkatans

The Brotherhood of Shadows
Shinnok
Quan Chi
Noob
Shang Tsung(?)
Nightwolf Zombie
Kitana Zombie
Kung Lao Zombie

What I find REALLY interesting about this is that either Sindel or Mileena will be leading Outworld. And I can't wait to see who Ermac/Jarrod sides with. Will he remain a good person and try to change his wife back to the side of good? Or will he side with the Outworlders? And if he does, could it be possible that he manages to maneuver himself back into marriage with his wife?

COULD ERMAC WIND UP THE NEW SHAO KAHN?!

And what if it doesn't end up a 3-way war? What if we see Outworld and Earthrealm being forced to join forces in order to defeat Shinnok?

Meanwhile we know for a fact the brotherhood is secretly splintered, Quan Chi and Noob are both planning betrayal.

This is why I enjoy the story found in the leak. Because it can result in so many possibilities.

No zombies, thanks.

You left out Liu Kang.

I'm not sure Liu is even still alive. If so, pretty sure he's not going to be too keen to be working with Raiden.

And I use "Zombie" in the Voodoo sense.

I must admit, I'm interested to see how this plays out.
I guess they made these changes to make the Netherealm invasion seem more high stakes, as someone else had put it in an earlier thread.
Either way, I hope they don't screw it up.

Probably because his fate is left unclear by the dialogue, we actually need to see the game to see whether or not he died.

I can't wait to see what Liu's fate is, I hope he's alive.

Oh, I'm sure he'll pull through (Unless his body ends up getting mutilated beyond recognition) He'll probably be neutral, though, or good, but not working with Raiden.

And why would the Lin Kuei be on the outworld side? Just because Shang Tsung hired them during MK1?

In MK9's story mode, Sektor pledges the Lin Kuei's allegiance to Shao Kahn during the MK2 tournament, in return for permission to abduct Sub-Zero from the tournament. Later, all three cyborgs are working for Kahn during the invasion, until Cyber-Sub's mind is restored by the good guys.

You forgot Reptile and Ermac. Anyway, the problem with the Outworlders is that most of them aren't inherently evil, they're just working for Shao Kahn to achieve their own goals. Take Reptile for example, he fights for Kahn because he'll bring back Zaterra. Goro and the shokans fought on the side of good before Kahn came back in MKD. Ermac is/was under Kahn's influence. All of them, without Kahn, could easily be considered up in the air. Knowing NRS though, Reptile will be Shinnok's attack dog reject, Ermac will be neutral, and Goro will still be the muscle of outworld. However, I'd like to see all 3 of these characters turn to the side of good, or at least form some sort of anti-hero fourth faction, just to see something interesting finally happen to some of these characters

I do wonder, if Shao Kahn is dead as well, whether Shinnok is going to do a 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse thing.
War - Shao Kahn
Conquest - Kitana
Famine - Kung Lao
Death - Nightwolf

Kinda falls on its face with Kung Lao though...

War and Conquest is redundant, they're the same thing. That's why most pop culture interpretations tend to call the 4th horseman "Pestilence" instead.
On another note, one wonders if Quan Chi will have Sindel under direct control when they make their move on Outworld, since he's the one that mind-spelled her to be evil and it doesn't get broken in MK9.

Usually, around 90% of the time.

Except for those who use violence not as a means for obtaining control over something, someone, somewhere (conquest). Some people actually war for the fun of it, Warhammer is a pretty good example for this (orks: genetically sentient bioweapons. They are wired for pleasure through violence, Chaos Space Marines care little, their Khorne Berserkers kill, main, burn and if there is noone to slay, they turn on themselves. And if no one is alive, they kill themselves for further bloodshed in the name of Khorne.)

There are some real life examples too, Patton was somewhat an example of this (he loved war for the aspect of warring).

I'm pretty sure that the idea for the next game is that the Netherrealm looking to conquer is bad for everybody who isn't from there, so Earthrealm and Outworld need to look past their initial differences and join forces. Kinda like Quan Chi's statement from MK vs. DC about "aligning yourself with devils".

Hopefully, they don't go too overboard with this, like when Raiden was all "Alright, I guess we have to team up. Liu Kang, you have to go team up with your arch nemesis while you figure out what the hell is going on. No, you can't go with anybody you might actually be friends with."

Granted, there should still be plenty of infighting. Assuming that Kenshi shows up as a regular character in this game, I imagine that he won't care what sort of war is going on and go for the kill on Shang at the first opportunity.

Looks like the list needs to be rectified!

Earthrealm's warriors
Raiden
Sonya
Johnny Cage

Outworlders
Sindel
Mileena
Shang Tsung(?)
The Lin Kuei
The Shokan
The Tarkatans

The Brotherhood of Shadows
Shinnok
Quan Chi
Shang Tsung(?)
Nightwolf "Zombie"
Kitana "Zombie"
Kung Lao "Zombie"
Smoke "Zombie"
CSubZ "Zombie"
Stryker "Zombie"
Kabal "Zombie"
Jax "Zombie"
Jade "Zombie"

So this is leading me to believe that we'll be seeing a lot of our old MK4 friends. I'm wondering how successful a defender of Earth Kai's going to manage to be this time. Wonder how happy the Elder Gods will be with Raiden for being responsible for providing Shinnok with his army

This is where I make a lot of random predictions.

1) Raiden is banished to the Netherrealm (like Shinnok)
2) Johnny Cage and Sonya got on an awesome adventure to the Netherrealm to free him.
3) Fujin leads the "New Generation" of MK warriors - Kenshi, Skarlet, Kai, Bo Rai Cho, Kira and a few others to fend off the Netherrealm.
4) Johnny and Sonya rescue Raiden but none of them can leave the Netherrealm until Shinnok returns.
5) Scorpion becomes wise to Quan Chi and becomes the one instrumental to defeating Shinnok.
6) Shinnok and Raiden have one big final showdown in Hell for the possession of all the souls.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
Get Sindel and Shang Tsung off the Outworld list. They both die.

Personally, I think Outworld may be put into some type of danger during Shinnok's invasion, and the Outworld forces and Earthrealm forces will ally themselves.
