As title say,my question si:are you stil interested in mk8?

I have to admit that since the start and the first annuncement about mk8 i really never had a huge interest in the next gen game.
The reasons are the whole armageddon thing in which almost every characters will die, lack of pathos and charisma n the (long) waiting, and the last interview with Ed Boon that simply tells us "This game will be dark er and more violent than Armageddon".
The point is this:i don't talk about EXCITEMENT for the release of the game8and we don't know anything about it)'cause there's already a thread, but my question is this:

CAN TOO MUCH TIME SPENT BETWEN THE FIRS ANNUNCIEMENT AND THE GAME RELEASE,IN SOME WAY,HURT THE GAME AND THE INTEREST ABOUT IT?

the answer is no. its only going to help it.

right now if they game were to just come out out of nowhere, then yes, no one would buy it, because interest is at an all time low.

but

as soon as the first picture comes out with the first news lead, it will ignite an explosion of interest and threads such as these will be overflowing with excitement and speculation. From there news will be leaked in increments that will keep peaking people's interest, each bit of news or preview of content at a calculated date in between each other to keep people hanging on for more and creating a hype over the game. All of this will get more and more compact until the release of the game and interest will be at an alltime high due to the chainreaction of hype set off.

so if anything this absence of news right now is a good thing, a great thing, because by holding on to the first big story until a reasonable time within the game's release, they can ignite interest and keep it going until the release of the game by not allowing a prolongued period of time fizzle it out..

they could do the same, if they released news now, and just released bigger news later, or bigger better previews of content later, reigniting fizzled interest ...but nothing compares to the explosion of the first big news, and to hold off on such is brilliant marketing.

Yes. There is such a thing as too much time going by between the announcment and the actual game itself. Humansmoke sorry to disagree with you, but right now if we were to find out something, it would at least ignite just as huge an explosion of interest as it were if it was to come out 5 months from now.

The more time passes on the worse off we are. WE NEED NEWS NOW!!!

LETS PRAY Sept 25th Tokyo game show even WILL HAVE SOME NEWS!!!!

i'm afraid that neither Midway teams know what to do.
and this is my greatest fear.
f they tells to the fanboys out there what direction to take,Boon & Co don't risk to ruin the game.
if they don't tell anything about the game to the fans, how in the hell can predict their reaction?
we're wating since november 2006,now we're almost a year later.

WHAT I THE HEEL DID MIDWAY TEAM DURING THIS TIME?

I don't really mind if they don't put out any info. If that means that they're hard at work trying to put out a quality game then I'm all for it.

Yeah... Remember MK4?? They gave us all sorts of info early on that turned out to be Horse Shat! They told us it would be the "Original Subzero" in the game. They also told us that Noob-saibot would be in the game. They told us some other stuff as well, that they decided to change before the final version was released... so for NOW, this early on, im kinda glad they arent divulging lots of info because I really dont like getting my hopes up for something and then, they change it last minute

I didn't say it did. I was merely being hopefully hypothetical (note the word "if"). I am not deluding myself about the quality of the upcoming game at all. Midway will most likely follow its recent trend and unleash another steaming flop to further castrate the Mortal Kombat name.

Dude the game isnt going to be released until Fall 2008. Just because we havent gotten any info doesnt mean that "they dont know what to do" or they "dont care." I mean we first got information about Armageddon in February of 2006 the YEAR the game came out. I am guessing we will be getting info about MK8 around Feb 2008 or Spring time. Be patient

Hell No I'm not bored or tired of waiting. We, as a fan-group must be patient as well, because WE want a fabulous game no matter what happens.

Listen:

#1: It matters little anyway, that fans are anxious to know any one thing about this next game. You know why?

Because people are NEVER satisfied with one thing...people always want more..and more.....and MORE, until there's nothing left to give. And then, even beyond that.

We, as the fans of this gaming franchise only "need" to voice our opinion of the games that are out now...What that then does for the creators, is kind of lets them know "what absolutely NOT to do anymore". The problem with this, is that with so many fans, and so many likes and dislikes about the one game, THERE IS NO CLEAR MESSAGE to the creators.
____________________________#2: MasterMalone, a user here on MkO, made REAL progress with the MkTeam pre-MKA, and succeeded. Credit him, for the getting the message through, in MkA, bringing to the MkTeams attention a "Wake up game". So, whenever you get knocked on the ground and you push that button to kick//punch your opponent before you actually "get-up"....that was a message that was Fan derived and CLEAR. Meaning that, enough people were speaking the same message, and were able to capitalize on an opportunity when "we" spoke with the creators.
___________________________

Now, I don't want any information on this next game. ANY. The way i feel about it is...In Mk1, Mk2, and through MkT, they weren't giving us "all" the info on the game before hand. So, why when they say "Start All Over", or "Reset", would you expect anything....

What about MkDa? Alot of people feel that too much was given out pre-game. So much so, that when the game came out, we already new what we were playing...

That's ridiculous of the Fans demand.

I think that some of the desired elements of the game are lost when we get "information" before the game is released. I think the most that we should probably get, is a teaser, little tid bits about character design and graphics changes, and maybe some good Hi Res renders....

But this, only months before the game actually comes out.

We shouldn't know that there will be "xx" amount of arenas....or "xx" characters on the roster....or "xx" about the storyline, unless those are ploys for them to sell the game....like in MkA(massive roster..KaK....Motor Kombat...ect).....but otherwise, WAIT, and BUY THE GAME for all that.

---

I'm fine with knowing nothing at all realy. It's a part of what made the first three games so "desirable", and then so nostalgic for me. I don't even need to know what the characters look like because, during Mk1-T, I had no access to the information.

No internet, no magazines(well, maybe a guide book), and my parents didn't want me playing the previous installments..lol...

-----

#3: The main things I want from this next game is the equilibrium in the graphical value that MkShaolinMonks had(encompassing all that Mk1-Da really had) plus that "next gen appeal", a deeper story for both the overall game story, and individual characters' story builds AND sub-plots that each character should have by now. And then good, competent, but above all, FUN gameplay.

Extra stuff, since they have more memory to play with, is a "story teller" type element, and or mini games that pertain DIRECTLY to the main purpose of the fighting part of the game and its characters. Practice modes or small immersible adventure features would suffice for this. Along with that would be a more than welcomed create a character feature, but you know, it's not even necessary if the characters on the roster are well enough put together.

_____

#4: Overall, I want them to make a fantastic game....so given what they have to work with now, I wanna wait. If fact, I can't anticipate being the slightest upset that they even push the release date back into 2009 somewhere...but told us that it will be worth it.
___

#5: Aheh, Then you have to consider the business aspects of the gaming industry...Wow.

and if midway team is taking the wrong direction?
as you said they listen to the fanboys.
if they tel us what direction the storyline is going,we can let the midway team knows if we LIKE mk8 this way.
look at tekken 6....they show videos about the graphics and the new gameplay where it seems that you can use our gadgets as weapon(brian fury can shoot a enemy with his riffle for istance).
tekken fanvoys didn't liked this idea and namco improved the graphics and deleted the weapon use.
i mrean this:ask to us what we like and what we don't.
so,if they want to make a good game, they have to tell us at least something about it.
