Are mirror match intros hinting at a mysterious new character?

posted04/26/2015 02:37 AM (UTC)byBiohazardEXTREMESo I was thinking, there are a few mirror match intros that just seem like the characters are confused about seeing their clones, like Ferra/Torr's "Why you look like me?"
But then there are others, where it really seems like one of the characters is pretty much admitting that they are NOT that character.
For example, when two Raidens fight each other, one asks, "Who are you?" and the other says, "I have many names."
And then when two Liu Kangs fight each other, one says, "Shang Tsung?" and the other says, "A feeble (or something) sorcerer? No."
There were a few other ones like that, and they clearly display a consistent kind of attitude like, "You don't know who I am, but I admit I don't actually think I'm you." And they never seem to be surprised at seeing another character looking exactly like them. I found this to be very intriguing that it almost comes off like some kind of a new shapeshifting character. I'm not sure they'll actually build on this and make a character out of it, but I think it'd be very interesting, if there was a sort of a being who could mimic other characters and manipulate others from inside their ranks. I think it'd be cool if they explored a character like that. I know there was Shang Tsung, but they seemed to have completely ignored the idea of Shang Tsung being a shapeshifter in the actual storyline, and didn't actually do anything with this potentially deceptive ability in MK9.

I think you're looking way too far into it.

They also talk about Bi-Han. Don't take them as anything more then humorous pokes.

Haha, that'd be pretty cool actually.

Reptile hints at Shang Tsung but how would he work with Ferra/Torr unless he can also split up.

Like the person said above this post Reptile speaks to the other Reptile and says his name is Shang Tsung so he may very well be DLC in the second pack.

This. They're just meant to be fun, maybe poke at the whole 'potential multiverse' trope.
Raiden's more than likely refers to the fact that different religions have given him different names throughout human history.

The Raiden and Liu Kang ones is hinting more at Shujinko since he has powers just like Shang Tsung.

I always thought Reptile was just trolling the other Reptile.

Yeah some of them are quite interesting, I think they are there for fun and to intentionally make some of us speculate.
Shang Tsung comes to mind, he was seen and/or mentioned in quite a few arcade endings.
Then there are two more endings which hint at something but im still not sure what, at the end of Mileena's it says the architect behind their awakening begins to laugh or something. Who made Mileena and apparently other clones of her in the Flesh Pit? Mr.Tsung did, as seen in MK9, and im sure you all noticed there was at least one more "Mileena" unfinished in the flesh pits stage in MK9.
Jacqui's ending is interesting as hell, wonder what that skull is what that crap was coming out of it?
It also seems Jax is destined to die, he gets shot up by Erron Black in one ending where we aren't sure if he dies or not, and then in Sonya's ending he straight up is said to have been killed by an assassin's bullet...which kind of goes alone with the other ending where he gets shot and wounded by Erron Black.

I prefer to think It's Chameleon trying to fool Reptile.
