Anyone else worried about the Shirai Ryu?

I am slightly disappointed by them not being included among the factions. One of the things I really hoped for was for Scorpion to finally reform his clan for this game. I was thrilled when he was shown doing so in the comic book and sad to see it was so short lived thanks to the asshole of a being that possessed Forrest Fox. Yet I was hoping that Scorpion would not give up on his clan, and he and Takeda would soldier on and rebuild and that the Shirai Ryu would indeed be featured in the actual game.

Now that we know they are not one of the factions, this worries me that their brief reformation in the comic is all we will get of the Shirai Ryu. Such a letdown of a tease IMO.

Things aren't looking too good for the Red Dragon either. I think we can guess which side will win in the Black Dragon vs Red Dragon war in the comics...

I can see why you're displeased with it, but other than Scorpion what other character has the Shirai Ryu produced?

Black Dragon
Kano, Kabal, Jarek, Tasia, No Face, Tremor, Kira & Kobra

Lin Kuei
Sub Zero(s), Cyrax, Sektor, Hyrdo, Smoke...

Brotherhood of Shadow
Quan Chi, Reiko, Sareena, Noob Saibot

Special Forces
Jax, Sonya, Kenshi, Cyrax (Later) & operatives

White Lotus

I get the argument you're making but what you're forgetting to take into account is that the Shirai Ryu, for the vast majority of MK's existence, have been a clan that existed in the past but were wiped out; whereas those other factions have actually existed within the timeline. So I'm not sure it's fair to dismiss the Shirai Ryu for that reason, you know?

Also, Takeda should be listed along with Scorpion under the Shirai Ryu, as should Forrest Fox if you're going to list Hydro under the Lin Kuei.

Good points, but the Shirai Ryu have never been explored to the same degree as the others. I'd like for it to happen, though. Wouldn't mind a sixth faction either at release or down the line.

It does suck. If I had a choice I would definitely choose Shirai Ryu or Red Dragon.

The rest are pretty lame. I might go with Brotherhood of the shadow meh.

We may not see it in this game but I would not give up hope. I do think Scorpion will one day restore the Shirai Ryu again, but I am assuming the events of MKX will put that on the back burner for a while lol
