Nice work. That study stage looks pretty interesting from what little we've seen.
Edit: I just thought of something. Could that rainy temple arena be an update/redesign of the Wind World from MK4/G, what with the dark skies, mountains, and rain? I loved that stage. Mind you, Dragon Mountain is also definitely possible. And I definitely got Ice Pit notions from the snowy arena with the coffins.

That statue that looks like Shang Tsung has symbols on his shirt that match the symbols on the order kamidogu in the comic. Maybe it's an older version of the order realm white haired guy, hotaru I believe. That's a common symbol though, I've seen it in a bunch of different movies and whatnot.

Nice.. I wonder if the stage with tarkatans coming out of portals that was mentioned in the magazine is any of these, doesn't seem like it.

My first thought when seeing the rainy stage with D'Vorah was the Sky temple, but then the statue/mountains may suggest otherwise. although I hear that Raiden and Fujin are shown talking at the Sky Temple in the comic, but haven't yet seen the image/images. But, the mountains would pretty much guarantee this isn't the Sky Temple. I think the Wind stage from MK4 is a good possibility

I'm fascinated by the stargate/portal in the new snow arena. 20 bucks says it's active in Story Mode.

These stages are FUCKING GORGEOUS! The rainy temple and snowy monastery interest me the most. Who they belong to, where they're located, their purpose, ect. So much beautiful detail though....

Great post OP! I love how you have picked apart this trailer and speculated in detail about the little pieces of new content we have been given. We all know how long its been since we have been given any new content, it's obvious Ed and the team have carefully chosen frame by frame what they want us to see for now.

You have made me notice so much more about this trailer even though Ive probably watched it 30 times at work today.

As for the arenas, I can't give much more speculation about them than you already have, but the idea you had about the possible Shirai Ryu temple excites me the most. That would be amazing. Also in lab / library arena, very good spotting with the warhammer. It would be so cool if it was Shao Kahn's hammer on display, nodding to the importance of the past ruler of outworld and his reign... Now being a valued piece in someone's collection (someone we probably know)

LOVE the attention to detail! Definitely a LOT of things very few people would notice. I didn't even realize it was 4-5 new arenas being shown in there!

That statue is what really puzzles me. It's too detailed to be just any old statue if you ask me. I don't think it's Argus because the hair is too long (but hey, if he's important to an Armageddon-related plot again he may have been redesigned).

I've read some say it could be Shang Tsung or even a redesigned Bo' Rai Cho. Either would be cool takes on the characters too. I'm just not sure why they would have a statue made after them (except for Shang, of course).

I can imagine a scenario where Liu Kang goes rogue after being revived from his MK9 state and Shang Tsung has to take him down similar to his MK9 ending and, in the process, gets killed and statue erected of him. Probably not, but just a cool thought. =P

I wonder...could the arena with the unknown statue be a redesigned "Shaolin Temple" from MK4? Obviously the MKX version is outside the actual temple but...




It has the same brownish colour scheme (Inside) and pretty similar logos on the windows. The MK4 one has it dark outside with what looks like rain. The MKX arena is outside and it is raining.

The statue might be Bo Rai Cho (In his prime) too!! The statue has the same logos in the same place on his chest as Bo did in his alt MKDA costume:

And good call on Bo Rai Cho, too. I doubt they'd go to such lengths as to bother coming with a design for what he used to look like in his younger days, but still.

The Stages in fighting games to me are as important as the roster.

I would like it if we got as many Stages as fighters similar to what KI is currently doing .

I love ALL the stages, they are all amazing in their own distinct ways. From the jungle to the snow forest, the level of detail and put into these stages are fantastic. At this point the snow forest is my favorite, but the downed plane stage full of destruction is a VERY close second. Well done NRS in this department!

Can't wait to see the new stages yet to be revealed.
