Yes, you apparently need an internet connection for the challenge towers now since they constantly update.

You still have lots of offline options though: practice, versus, single fight, story mode, test your might and test your luck, arcade ladder (which has been expanded with a return of choose your destiny and a new endless ladder).

that's more content than most other fighting games, especially offline.

Just for the online material. Other than that, nope.

At least this isn't Diablo 3 where you need to be online for even solo player.

They never said about the game being online only, and I can't remember the last fighting game that didn't allow you to play offline. So it's safe to assume that you can play MKX offline. It probably will just save data and carry over to the whole online faction thing once you reconnect again.

Ok so there are two types of towers. Klassic towers and Living towers.

Seems like living towers are the ones that change and need an online connection.

But Klassic towers seem like an old school arcade mode. I hope that doesnt need an internet connection.

...assuming one can.

Sucks cos i loved replaying Challenge tower. Everyone remembers Scorpion rejecting Mileena's teddy.

Are you sure about the choose your destiny ? I don't recall hearing or seeing nothing about that.

The overall game design was built around an online connection. Even the single player content is wrapped into the faction wars metagame. Kinda disappointed we don't have a 300 tower but the new ones look great regardless. Sucks if you have little to no internet or hackers want to be gay for no reason and shit on the networks. If you plan on playing offline you are going to miss half of the features but it's still playable.

You can play the Factions war offline according to Boon. So it'll be your selected faction vs the other factions as CPU.

By offline I think he means single player like story and not 1v1 ranked. You still need a connection to play factions.

My internet is crappy so I hope we don't have to always stay online on the faction.

You mean to stay in the faction? I doubt it

But you do need to stay online to contribute to your faction.

Good news. I asked on twitter @lover_of_tacos and he said we dont need to be connected to the internet for klassic tower and arcade mode. I think both are the same mode.

He seems to answer a lot of questions regarding the game. Is he really a nrs employee?

A related question:

I still don't have the PS4 (plan to buy it when the game releases, though I'm temped of getting a new PC instead and get the Steam pre-order) and I've been told that unlike PS3, PS4 requires psplus subscription to play online.

I rarely play online so I was thinking on not taking that plus subscription to save on the fee but now I'd like to know from anyone with knowledge if this would also affect the faction wars as it sends data of my games (which means I will be forced to tae the subscription if I want to participate).

edit: not sure if hes a legit nrs employee but many seem to trust him.
