I really believe this will be a big thing in the new game, in terms of what makes a character say certain phrases.

For example:

I know a lot of people believe that Scorpion will revert back to his vengeful self by the time the 25 year leap happens, but... what if it doesn't? What if his primary outfit is for during the Netherrealm War and he still wants to get revenge on Sub-Zero, while his alternate costume would signify more of the Scorpion we've learned about in the comics?

Or Kuai Liang and Bi-Han. The primary may very well be the elder Sub-Zero, but what we can tell so far from the comic appearance and alternate costume teased in the Ermac screenshot (which appears to be the same), we are looking at the younger brother. It doesn't seem implausible that BOTH brothers are in the game with different voice actors who speak completely different from each other depending on which outfit you have.

Lastly, Ermac is another example. He seems to be clearly in service of Shao Kahn and serving the emperor, BUT Kotal suggests that he thought that they were allies at some point. This MUST imply that at one point Ermac was not fully in this Shao Kahn worshiping stage, or at least not enough to be partners with Kotal in him winning control of Outworld. WHAT IF his alternate is of before the 25 years where he is freed and acts more as he did in MKD and MKA, which would probably look less zombie-like and cryptic, therefore with much different lines.

What do you guys think?

It's an idea I fully approve of, and your theories make sense.

I'll add that certain characters, like Jarek, and Frost if she doesn't get her own separate slot on the roster, should be alts with their own intros and maybe even their own outro.

I prefer characters to be individualized, but Jarek with Kano's moveset again is tolerable, imo.

Only certain characters could work as alts, though.

It's completely possible. They did this for MK9 to an extent, and Injustice. Say Green Lantern for example, John Stewart Green Lantern and Hal Jordan Green Lantern had different voice actors, it seems like 2 different characters in 1 character slot but they're merely alternates. Superman had many different dialogue intros/ outros depending which costume you selected. Cyborg Superman had a robotic voice differentiating him from the rest of his alts.

MK9 Subzero primary and alternate are 2 different characters like we all said in the other topics. Human Cyrax and Sektor have different voices from their cyborg versions... the list goes on. So the possibility is definitely there.

I'm sure they are capable of giving different voices and dialogue for both Subzero's if they're both in 1 character spot.

It's looking like our best chance of getting Jade in the game will be to make her an alt for Kitana, complete with her own intros. Sadly, she still won't have fatalities of her own (which Jarek never really had, making him better as an alt for Kano than Jade is for Kitana) unless Kitana use the staff and/or glaive in one of her fatalities.

But then again, Jade as Kitana's alt could have those gorgeous bronze fans she had in MK2, so it wouldn't be a completely bad thing.
