Yes, we know, it is discussed in another thread already.

Even in past interviews, he always gave "I think" type of answers...He probably doesn't remember the exact number of new characters introduced in the past games...

With this answer, I'm expecting a comparable amount of new characters that DA and Deception had, which I still think is alot.

LOL at all the vague information.

Of course Ed Boon, John Vogel, ETC don't recall anything they did in the past.

I myself can't remember such details about older video games, I have to gooogle that stuff to refresh my memory.

Nobody needed to see 12 brand new karakters in this game anyway, let's not get it twisted.

Where is Tanya?? Tanya needs to be in MKX more than any other karakter. She just needs 1 roster slot.

Tanya should be a priority. I can't wait to see what those guys decide to do....

The year 2015 is getting closer.

I personally think that Havik deserves a spot ahead of Tanya, but I wouldn't be mad if she made it and he didn't.

So, I guess we will be getting more returning than new, rather it being 50/50.

About 9 to 10 new would be ideally. Leaves room for some MK4-MKD characters...let's hoping.

Pretty funny how Ed had to pretty much think about his answers. He was kind of hesitating for the most part. Guess he didn't want for anything to spill out.

I need BOTH Tanya and Havik to make it.

Given all the other interviews, this makes sense.

If it does end up being about 8 new characters, I could live with that. That leaves a whopping 16 spaces left for returning characters(counting the 5 that are already announced, Goro is DLC so he doesn't count) and ups the chances for at least 3-4 MK4-MKD characters to make it in. IF the roster is indeed 24. Not too bad.

This makes me wonder. It was only months ago they were claiming MKX would have "THE most" new characters in an MK game ever. I wonder if a new character or two possibly got scrapped for not fitting into the cast, mechanically not working properly or perhaps the team was just being a little overzealous about the new game in general and over-hyped it?

I think it's likely some meetings were had after the backlash of fan favorites potentially not returning. Maybe some some classic character DLC was swapped with new characters for DLC.

But I don't think you go from "More new characters than any MK game" to "Almost as many new characters as Deception" without giving the roster some serious thought.

Boon has said since MKX's GI debut that to his knowledge it was the most new MK characters since the first game. So rather early we were looking at about 9 or 10. Somewhere in that realm.

Assuming it's ten, that means 14 returning characters, of which we already have 5, so we have nine more max?

I think we might see Tanya and Fujin return, perhaps Shinnok, and one more MK4 character. 4 character down, five remains for MKDA-D? Ergh.

The unseen newcomers better be worth it.

And even all that is rather generous. If we do see MKDA-MKA characters it'd probably only be Kenshi and Bo. Havik or Li Mei are also possibilities the former more so than the latter.

being one of the few MKDA characters to return in MKD, i'd say those 3 are pretty favored by the Netherrealm studios and are likely. I mean, Quan chi isn't even all that popular but due to his importance in the story and his favoritism among the developers, he got in this game.... i think the same could go for those three as well (though Kenshi is actually quite popular)

Kenshi is almost a shoe-in at this point for either the main cast or (yet again) DLC. He's insanely popular and aside from returning/brand new characters, he's one of the more interesting and important 'good' figures that is technically speaking still alive. I'd also like to see him evolve more past the whole Tsung revenge plot, too. Maybe have him recruited by Raiden because of so many of the deaths his side experienced.

As for the others, I think the highest probabilities lie with Daegon, Reiko, Frost, Sareena, Tanya, Kira, Shinnok, Bo Rai Cho, Fujin and Havik given their cameo appearances in MK9; the team must've had a reason for includes those specific characters, unless it was just done completely random.

Kenshi is definitely in the main roster IMO.

I believe Ed said on twitter that DLC characters in MK9 wouldn't be DLC characters in MKX, if they make the game. He didn't think it was appropriate to make people pay twice in a row like that.

Kenshi is easily one of the most well received MK4-MKA characters. So yes, I see him making it in for sure.

I'd say Fujin, Bo, Tanya, Reiko, and Havik all have a chance to make the cut, either in the main roster or as DLC. I wouldn't hold out hope for many others. I hope Ashrah, Frost, and Nitara are brought back at some point. The females of MKDA and MKD had more potential and uniqueness about them than a lot of the males of that era. Which is odd for me, because most of the females of MK2-3 didn't really appeal to me as much.

You forgot that Kenshi is one of Ed's favorite characters, and it was probably random.

Hey Guys! It's been a long time since my last reply. Been out of the game scene for years but now, MKX makes me come back head's off into fighting genre.

Let's come back to the topic. I think at this point NRS want to let us know they have created a bunch of new characters but, my thought is they will scratche lot of them to finally have more like 7-8 official new ones.

That said, I think 8 is very welcome and fair number. From my side, MK4 to MKD has a good storyline and deserves to get a refreshed game. For that, no need to fill the cast with too much new figures.

I would love to have those coming back as they were my favorites for years and since I come back into the game, it would be a great reunion at the same time.

Here my list:

8 new characters
Fujin
Tanya
Bo'Rai Cho
Shinnok (Onaga will be the boss IMO)
Havik
Mileena
Reptile
Noob Saibot
Kenshi
Daegon
Li Mei or Ashrah

Can't wait! Enough said grin
