The fatalities in MK:SM were pretty good for the simplicity but the amount of them some characters have would be too much for an actual fighting game IMO. I would use only 3 at the most for each character. Of coarse they would need to be scaled with better graphics to support next gen consoles though.

I think that fatalities should be more cinematic instead of more simplistic. Also, I think I can safely say that I am not the only one that wants to see a cinematic fatality in HD.

Yeah that would be good,but very impossible.I mean look back and you'll see that they even can't make cinematic endings and you as for cinematic fatalities.

About what I said, I don't want 56 fatalities per fighter,but I want the style of shaolin monks.Like when you killin' them they would resist and fight back etc etc.

I didn't mean full on FMV fatalities...just maybe quick cut scenes with close ups here and there. For instance lets say Sub-Zero has his old head rip...when the fatality is being performed there should be close ups and movie styled views to show more grotesque detail of the facial expressions and gore. Another good example would be Kanos heart rip...there should be a close up of the opponents chest as he stabs his arm into it and rips out the heart.

wow...i think it would be cool to have the enemy try to get Sub's hand away, like Kang in MKDA's intro, then when he fails you see a close up of the neck and watch the flesh get torn off, then it zooms out and the horrified expression remains on his face.

This is now the standard they must meet or beat.

I want that, or better from Mortal Kombat because MK started that back in the early 90's. Then, public opinion (ESRB rating system) told them they couldn't or shouldn't do that. And now we see that very same violence and brutality (if not more, actually) from a "son" of Mortal Kombat...God of War 3.

I think, or thought that it was a matter of "doing violent things to human appearing characters", but that scene with Kratos shatters that idea. There is no fundamentally aesthetic difference between Helios (god of the sun) and say Liu Kang. So?

I want Nothing less from MK.

I want No excuses, MK.

That Kratos scene was about as violent as it's gonna get, it was cinematic, and the only real difference between that and what MK fans want, is that the lighting in the scene did not dim out.

That's what I want though...lol

if i were to make the fatality's in mk9 i'd have the simplicity of mkda. i liked how if i pressed the wrong button it stayed on fatality so i would be able to re enter the combination to get it working.

the look of fatality's should be over the top in gore and violence. some games that have the scare factor are the suffering, fear, and the resident evil series. which could be incoperated into arena's, characters and gameplay while still mantaining the chinese martal arts, mythology vybe.

in terms of gore i'd say god of war series, doom series, and the quake series have the type of edge mk9 could use to incorperate during being sliced, stabed, beaten, and ripped apart in terms of the type of blood in fatality's.

mk needs to bring back the shock factor that we all know and love for like the good days of mk and mk2. plus the blood is getting more and more sloppy which is very distastefull because mk is known for there blood.

that's my take on the subject.

@ThePredator151...that GOW3 head rip is almost a perfect example of what I was talking about. Could use more blood effects but not too much more. I would have liked to see blood hit the screen arcade style and I miss hearing the unrealistic but attractive bone crunching sounds known from older MK games.

holy crap that was a perfect example i mean they even showed the skin tearing MK games dont do that all they do is make is clean cuts in their character models during fatalitys thats what i wanna see in the new MK fatalitys if a leg is being torn off i want the cloth on the pants to tear off with the leg as well as the flesh, basically make those fatalitys look real, and yes they could make them cinematic just like that GOW vid

I'd like to see a few fatalities that have caracter specific touches to them. Maybe a few lines if you come across a caracter that yo0u are bound by story wise.

The gow3 head-rip is a good fatality that should make it in mk9.
Or a simple gunshot through the head as the other player begs for mercy.

Mortal Kombat became populair with the help of fatalities that were in that time gory als hell, because it was never done before. So bring that back, bring back the dark, realistic fatalities.

I'd love to see scorpion take his mask off, see the glow in his eyes en put his enemy in flames, and just once more to speed it up a bit, and this in the style of gow3.

I want the fatalities to have a sense of God of War style... get real close up to what's being attacked on the body and slow-mo in a bit... but there's no way I want it to actually copy a God of War death sequence... but in that sense of direction. I want to literally throw up when I see Sub-Zero rip some guy's head off or something like that.

Then I will be satisfied.

I'm thinking of the Fight Club game, they had something like that. If it was done that way for fatalities in the next MK game, but w/ more blood, that would be AWESOME!!!!grin

I'd love it if every character has at least one fatality that would involve them attacking victims at their intimate body parts. *lol* Like low blows and/or shoving sharp objects in "special places". wink

Oh I have a new idea about the fatality system. It should be like pressing one button in a certain amount of time after doing a combination for the first move. Here, I'll tell you what I mean. Let's use Jade as an example.

1) You press a combination like back, forward, forward, forward, + circle. Doing that makes Jade poke the opponent at the abdomen, chest, and groin. While she is doing it, a timer will occur for a few seconds. With in those seconds you have to press...
-square to impale the victim at the face.
-circle to impale the victim at the guts.
-X to impale the victim at the groin
-triangle to uppercut the opponent with the staff.
or if you don't press any in time, the enemy wiill just get knocked out from the thrusting motion of the staff. The body would still have multiple holes all over the front so it is still considered a fatality.

2) If you pressed...
-square, the timer will let you choose to press circle to throw the opponent over Jade's shoulder with her staff and while the face is impaled and when the body hits the ground, it rips off the head. The other three buttons can be other moves that Jade can perform while the enemy's head is impaled. If nothing is pressed, then Jade will just hold the stick in place while it is impaled in the head.
-,circle, the timer will let you choose to press: circle for Jade to throw the enemy over her shoulder with the staff and having to press one of the buttons again to finish the opponent; triangle,for her to do the MKT Belly Shake; square,for her to let go of the stick and break the victim's neck; or X for her to do something else while the staff is stuck in the belly. If nothing is pressed, Jade will just lift the impaled opponent up a little, holding him in place.
-X, the timer will let you choose to press: circle,to throw the opponent over her shoulders; square,to shake the opponent into pieces; triangle to let the opponent go on his knees and then shove the staff in his mouth through his butt, or X hold the victim in place while he is impaled. If nothing is pressed, the enemy will just fall to the ground in pain.
-triangle, the timer will let you choose to press circle, to spin the staff like a helicopter and have the opponent fall on it while he goes into pieces; square, to impale the enemy as he lands from the sky; triangle, to throw the staff at the enemy so he can be impaled in air; or X, for Jade to throw her razorang at him so he can be sliced up in the air. If nothing is pressed, the opponent just lands on the ground with broken bones.

Overall, the list goes on depending on what button you have to press. It would be nice if their idea of creating a fatality is similar to this. It should be like this because, there is a variety of moves but stll has that unique style and no combinations need to be pressed while in the time limit. If MK9 happened this way, it would be the best fighting game of the year and more fans will be pleased. Just note that, the timer is UNDER 10 seconds and that players have to know what they want to do in order to press the right button unless they don't care about how they kill their opponents. And remember, after you do the first combination of buttons, what your character does is a fatality either way so it won't be a broken chain of a combo. You get? smile
